Yes, I guess it will improve the output.
Maybe I should have clamped the ratio or switched the axis for ratio < 1.0, but hey...something for the next version.

Screen backgrounds are not appearing with this version (no log errors) - do I need to enable something?
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

Hmm. Argh. Grr. Yep. screenbackgrounds.plist. *sigh*
Either rename it (remove the underscore) or download v1.8.1...

Does that apply to the
_descriptions.plist
too?

No. This one is disabled on purpose. If enabled it 'clears' some onscreen messages in Oolite.

As I discovered - I'm used to spoken messages only, as I often fly hudless (the new hud on/off switch is great).

I finally got around to trying this out (been busy giving the website for the family business a makeover) and noticed something that looks a little strange..
The primary blue effect is now round again even on 2560x1024, (very cool, thanks!) but the secondary hexagonal effect is still a stretched ellipse..
Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied

I've been experimenting in the last days with the docking sequence for BGS.
The shader uses 4 maps and currently a fullscreen approach. In v1.79 it will switch to a lot faster non-scaling vertex shader, but this is not possible yet. And now I'm looking for artists to help creating some more maps (docking bays, landed ships and support vehicles). If you are interested let me know.
