Strange group of ships

Post by Lord Winslow »

i dont know if its a bug or not but as anyone traveled to Zaonce and found all fugitive eagle mk2's of all the same color flying around the witchspace beacon? there must be at least thirty, you can kill them all, but they always are there when you arrive

Saw them when I flew there looking for the new Rings.
To my shame I used an energy bomb, I was starting off a new pilot and he had nowhere near the ship or even the laser to deal with them. I couldn't even run as I am so used to using the fuel injectors. Believe me, I tried to run.
After one look at this planet any visitor from outer space would say "I want to see the manager."

If memory serves, the fleet of eagles was a bit of code so that Selazen could test them out. If you delete the planetinfo.plist file within the eagle2 OXP, it should clear that right up.

Godsdammit!!!

Yeah - I test all my new ship models at Zaonce's witchspace beacon. As magamo says, delete the planetinfo.plist file and you should be OK.

When I get time I will be revisiting the Eagle OXP and bringing it up to date with the new versions of Oolite. I plan to add a few more skins and make sure the shipdata, plist data is accurate enough and balanced. Whilst I'm doing that I'll remove the planetinfo file.

On a side note, it was interesting a while ago when I went to Zaonce with all of my development OXPs installed - there was a Capisastra fleet, a fleet of Eagles, a fleet of Imperial Couriers and a load of graveship Adders from the TOGY. All entered as pirates. It was...fun...until the graphics got so slow that I had to quit. :)

I encountered those Eagles by surprise a LONG time after adding whatever OXP caused it (the Eagle or Courier one, IIRC).

There was quite a battle.

I did NOT have to resort to an energy bomb.
It did, however, cost mucho moolah to get the ship repaired afterwards.

If you right-click, or control-click (if you haven't got a Mighty Mouse yet!) on the eagle2.oxp in your add-ons folder, you should get a menu appear.

Fifth option down should be 'Show package contents' - click on that and you'll see a folder with, amongst other bits a blank sheet of paper icon labelled 'planetinfo.plist'.

That's the offending item that needs to be deleted - don't worry, it won't affect anything else!

EDITED!

That’s “control-click”. Command click toggles selection. :-)
