Nova mission in 1.77
There seems to be a bug there.
once docked to the station, i'm presented with the question if i want to help or not.
do i say yes, something completely weird happens. i kicked outta the station (or so it seems), but can't do anything but watch.
do i say no, and then try to exit the station, then the animation comes, but afterwards i'm right back in "docked to nil"

Re: Nova mission in 1.77
Seems to work fine here, for both choices.
It did throw a couple of errors in my log though (to do with the old Nova save-file, I presume):

I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

Re: Nova mission in 1.77
I just gave it a test on my setup:
However, you should be in control of your ship, and be able to get outta there ASAP. How to get out of the system without having refueled first? Well, that's exactly the question you have to find the answer to in order to successfully fulfill the mission.
In your case I suspect an interaction with a OXP that perhaps replaces the station.
In my tests I found that other ships around me didn't blow up nearly as fast as they should. I suspect Custom Shields OXP as the culprit and will try without it. EDIT: No, it's not. Even without Custom Shields the ships seem to be far more resilient than I remember from back when I did the mission.
This is the normal behaviour of the mission. Once you have accepted it, you get launched immediately, because there's no time to lose.Wyvern Mommy wrote:do i say yes, something completely weird happens. i kicked outta the station (or so it seems), but can't do anything but watch.

That's definitely not right. In my test, when I refuse the mission, I can do what I want on the station and launch at any point I like to. The station then gets blown up behind me, and so does everything else (including myself).Wyvern Mommy wrote:do i say no, and then try to exit the station, then the animation comes, but afterwards i'm right back in "docked to nil"

They all blew pretty damn fast here, and I'm using NPC-Shields.Commander McLane wrote:I found that other ships around me didn't blow up nearly as fast as they should.

Re: Nova mission in 1.77
I jumped back into the system after the sun had gone Nova, and met an asteroid field and a Renegade FdL, which had enough time to attack and almost kill me before it heated up enough and went <kaboom>. The asteroids weren't affected at all by the radiation. Was this always so?Cody wrote:They all blew pretty damn fast here, and I'm using NPC-Shields.Commander McLane wrote:I found that other ships around me didn't blow up nearly as fast as they should.

I believe so - they're well-baked (hardened), and there are plenty of 'roids in myCommander McLane wrote:The asteroids weren't affected at all by the radiation. Was this always so?

Re: Nova mission in 1.77
Also a question to the developers: should the countdown timer after refusing and launching take the hyperspace spin time of the player ship into consideration, now that that is variable?
Re: Nova mission in 1.77
Seems a 'dead' player has been launched. Will try to reproduce it.Cody wrote:It did throw a couple of errors in my log though (to do with the old Nova save-file, I presume):

Re: Nova mission in 1.77
i think i know what happens.
my tico station has a radius of 1000 feet. when launching in the nova mission, i get kicked out at the coriolis normal position of 500 feet, then enter the docking port from the inside, instantly redocking.

I was meaning to ask which station type there was in your system, but forgot.Wyvern Mommy wrote:i think i know what happens.

Out of interest: where are you normally placed when launching from that tico station (I don't know this station type, unfortunately)? If you're normally placed too close to the station—even inside the docking bay—, that would be a buggy shipdata of that station.
Re: Nova mission in 1.77
Which shouldn't happen, since if you choose to help the station gets blown up before that point.Wyvern Mommy wrote:then enter the docking port from the inside, instantly redocking.
That gives a fairly strong hint as to where the problem is. Should be fixed in r5677, so if you download the nightly build tomorrow, it should be working properly in that.
Thanks

Re: Nova mission in 1.77
not sure this would count as a bug, but ....
in the nova system there's all those workholes. where are the ships once i've left the system? there should be much more ships present in the systems around it (well, only the one where the player is would be relevant, but even so), and maybe even more arriving.

Re: Nova mission in 1.77
Maybe the player is the last ship out, and the only one that has no fuel (so is forced to use the other - intended - way out).
