Oh well ... hear no weevil, see no weevil, that's what I say. Welcome back, Fatleaf!Fatleaf wrote:Must resist the temptation to be rebellious

Well, the easiest thing to do would be disabling avatars and signatures in the display options of your control panel, wouldn't it?Selezen wrote:Since I mostly read this forum at work, anything that reduces the glaring obviously not work related stuff would be appreciated. Banners I don't see as being a problem, but big flashy things in avatars and sigs can be a bit messy and distracting.

My opinion is that since we can personally turn off both banner and signature then I would be rather hesitant to make any set rule. But having guidelines for people would be good though.Corny wrote:Well, the easiest thing to do would be disabling avatars and signatures in the display options of your control panel, wouldn't it?

At about half that size, that wouldn't be too bad..Smivs wrote:I had to resist the temptation to be hypocritical...

May I suggest that if you do not want to see signatures, you could install a script to stop you seeing signatures.

Not showing signatures isn't really what people want, though.
The problem is not signatures, but the use of banners in signatures. So we'd need a tool that only hides the banners, not the complete signature.

Well I made my banner as small as I could make. But never thought banners are a problem. I have my banner for years now.

I'll bite. While personally I have not seen a particularly distracting or annoying banner in signature - I can appreciate those that do find them a little excessive, especially on devices which are not desktop computers. Linking to content would be my preference - avatars should really be sufficient.

A Griff Cobra III with a very tasteful colour scheme, as I recall... yes?Diziet Sma wrote:I guess you missed seeing the ones I made back in the days I was hosting the Griff All-In-One package..submersible wrote:While personally I have not seen a particularly distracting or annoying banner in signature
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
