I assume there are more downloads as usually because of the Oolite 1.77 release. Everyone is updating their oxps. I just examined my box account and noticed that I have used 77% till now for this month. And in days we are at 66% of the month, so in this rate I will also not make it till the 31 th. :(

A few of us can make emergency Box space available, as Gimi and I did for Griff - I'm currently at 32% this month.
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

I'm at 28%.

27% here.

I can as well, although I'm at 47% (the benefit of most of my OXPs being quite small in file-size).

I'm sure Svengali won't mind if I put a very temporary link for CCL 1.7 here - if not, I'll remove it.
Muchas gracias, EV .-) Seems I need to upload at least the main versions to dropbox...

Yes. And I'd think E:D is another factor as I'm close to (or above the) limit three month in a row now. Cmd.Cheyd has offered space on his Deep Horizon Industries server and I guess it makes sense to move now.

I'm at 1% :D

For Griff I shared out a separate folder called "Griff Overload" that he has full control of. This means that he can move/copy OXP's here when needed, and that the folder shows up in his account as well. If needed I would certainly consider doing so again. This BOX account is only used for Oolite stuff anyway.

Try this:

Go into the x-ships.oxp/Config folder and open shipdata.plist in your favourite text editor (at least you're not using Windows, so we don't need to worry that you might use Notepad).

Scroll down until you see <key>python-x-player</key>

Look for the following section:

Code: Select all

		<key>view_position_aft</key>
		<string>0.0 12.92 -51.65</string>
		<key>view_position_forward</key>
		<string>0.0 17.4 -6.89</string>
		<key>view_position_port</key>
		<string>-5.21 16.77 -8.53</string>
		<key>view_position_starboard</key>
		<string>5.21 16.77 -8.53</string>
The third number in the <string> that comes after view_position_forward, (in this case, -6.89) is the one that affects how far forward/back your view position is located. The unit is ship-metres. To move the view forward, reduce the value until the nose no longer obstructs your view. I'd suggest going with decrements of 0.5 at a time. Things should improve well before you get into positive figures.

(The reason the number is negative is because the view-position is located aft of the mid-point)

After each change you make, when you restart Oolite, hold down the shift key until you see the spinning Cobra. That forces Oolite to rebuild its' cache. Otherwise your changes won't take effect.

Let us know how you get on, and what value works for you.
What do the other two numbers in these strings represent? I'm trying to resolve an issue I found in Smiv's Shipset v4 when flying the Anaconda - the view_position_forward and the weapon_position_forward values were the same so I was blinded by my forward laser every time I fired it :-(

Well, technically speaking, it's not an 'issue', it's a 'feature'..

Your forward view is essentially looking out through the barrel of your laser. This gives you extreme long-range sniping accuracy, but as you noticed, has an unfortunate side-effect!

The numbers (unit-value = ship-metres), in L-R order, are:
  • Position on the X axis (-port/+starboard)
  • Position on the Y axis (-bottom/+top)
  • Position on the Z axis (-aft/+forward)
(in each case 0.0 = dead-centre)

The probable best solution (without having tested it myself) would be to raise the viewpoint by a few metres above the laser barrel. To do this, try increasing the value on the Y axis by +2 or +3. You may need to use a higher value than that, though.. try small increments until you get something you can live with. The closer you can keep to the gunport, the better your sniping will be.
