You can't check the market where you are going, but as a rule take computers/luxuries to poor low-tech and furs/booze to rich hi-tech.

The Oolite Reference Sheet pdf (in the main Oolite folder) has clues to commodity prices/systems... and other useful stuff.
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills

marketAide OXP https://bb.oolite.space/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=12363 might help with commodity prices.

Just lurking about and read this thread. Perhaps this or a fresh thread could be made sticky for just this topic (recommended OXPs for beginners) under Expansion Pack. It seems a common question for new Jamesons .
Going for the eyecandy and extra ships was the first thing I did when I found Oolite, then a couple days later, I added some Mission OXPs. With a few exceptions (such as Ship's Pets by superbatprime), I haven't added anything since my first month of playing.

Having a bit of trouble guys. Travelled to a planet to sell some goods. I found the nav buoy(green) and ID'd it. Then ID'd (green) the station and then I travel towards it but I am unable to dock. No auto docking when I press the C button. Any ideas?

edit: just realised by reading Mr Gimlet i do not have auto docking :-( OK I just flew very very slowly into a quickly rotating station. Lots of scraping noises etc..put my speed to zero but why didn't it say I had docked successfully? do I need to do something else?

You gotta buy the [EliteWiki] docking comp... or dock manually, which is much better!

Yep... you gotta fly ahead through the far wall of the docking bay.

Through the wall? okey dokey once again thank you.

edit: right that works. Do you know of any mods that show distances to objects please?

The Almost almost default HUD measures distances to objects, once you've bought an [wiki]Advanced Space Compass[/wiki]. Edited to add: and when you fit a [wiki]Scanner Targeting Enhancement[/wiki], it'll show the distance to your current target.

Mr Gimlet is right about just how much of a sin it is, sending new pilots out in the basic-spec Cobra III!
