Well, those kindly old ladies need something to do :)
Commander Cody is not averse to visiting the occasional cat-house.
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

Try asking a Feline Commander what they think of humans keeping cats as pets.. but don't stand too close when you do..

Oh, it is.. but that's not readily apparent to your average Feline until they've had a chance to observe it for themselves. In the meantime, they tend to leap to conclusions.. often involving a leap at a throat, which tends to produce a pretty conclusive conclusion.

Maybe feline commanders like to keep the odd monkey as a pet.

Which brings up another closely related subject, on lobstoids. Humans walking into certain specialist lobstoid restaurants are often shocked at the monkeys kept in cages on open view, for the patrons there to select from for their meals.

Ha! I only deal in high-quality gear... sweet and fragrant, is Rolling Thunder's hold!

After a serious firefight last night, Lord Effingham glared at me, in his one-eyed way, and demanded (in the way cats do) an escape pod of his own!

Have taken on board two felines who are squabbling over supremacy: The Captain and Tiddles.

How about pictures to go with the names? That would be the cat's whiskers!

I had a "Ship's Dog" by the name of "Peasbody" offered to me at my last stop - it's described as "conspicuously absent from checklists".

Hmmm, sounds like that blasted "offog" someone at Zaonce claimed I had once... :-)

Well done sir! :D

It's one of my all time favorite stories from when I was very young, I was wondering if somebody would get that one.
Hah, you made my day.

On the state of the OXP, I have been distracted recently by some experimental voice shenanigans with Spara's very interesting Audible Docking Clearance but I do have a backlog of more "cats" waiting to be added and of course the inevitable death of shipboard felines is the priority feature.

Visually speaking I agree on some kind of picture, image or the like being a neat idea, I was thinking about a BGS screen, it would just be the regular inflight f3 screen (the cockpit shot) with a cat/dog/robot/whatever else is in there, curled up in the seat, edited to match color, tone and saturation... Will look into ways and means but the floor is open to all comers of course. ;)

On a more serious note my ambition far outstrips my ability so I may have to place myself at the mercy of more accomplished heads to finish the job. I am coming from a background of exactly zero experience (best I've done before this was making Minecraft skins  ).

It wouldn't have gotten this far without Commander McLane who did the real work of making the cats randomly appear in the shipyard.
Which if you think about it... pretty much is the entire OXP atm lol.
So then I says to him, I says "naw dude, Oolite ain't no Space Opera... Oolite is Space Rock and Roll!"

Ahh.. by the late great Eric Frank Russell.. I wasn't aware of that story, though.. I know him from one of my favourite anarchist scifi stories, And Then There Were None. He's credited with having originated the expression "myob" for "Mind your own business" which appeared in the story.
