I'm pretty new to Oolite. I found out about it on the kickstarter for Elite: Dangerous. Anyway, I've installed the OXP BGS (and Cabal Common).
I saw the impressive looking picture on the wiki page for BGS:
Is there anyone who can say which other oxp files are installed to make it look as good as in the picture?
I really don't want to test out any other oxp, I'd be satisfied if I got Oolite to look as in the picture...
(and Yay! to the E:D Kickstarter for bringing us more players! )
Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied
The reason being, your ships are going to take a massive step up in looks with Griffs set, there will be a big gap between them and planets.
Povray Planets will provide aesthetic consistency.
So then I says to him, I says "naw dude, Oolite ain't no Space Opera... Oolite is Space Rock and Roll!"

I tried to download that oxp, but the server doesn't respond
Oh dear.. the server seems to be offline. Hopefully it will be back up soon.. if not, somebody here will set up an alternative site before long. It's not the first time this sort of thing has happened..

It's working here... try from these links. Big downloads though... they will take some time.
NB - you only need the base OXP plus the textures of the galaxy you're in at the moment.
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!
Those are the same links as in the Wiki. Server had a temporary problem, I guess.
