Good... r5366 is running smooth, so far. Exploding at high speed/pitch seems quite safe... heh.
(Now if I could only figure out why TAP and Fighter Hud ain't working quite right in trunk.)
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

I suspect the overrelease issue isn’t directly related. I don’t know why zombies aren’t reporting in GNUstep, possibly the thing that’s throwing an exception instead of crashing is getting in the way.
That does appear unrelated. It's being thrown from within Geometry buildOctreeWithinRadius:toDepth:intoBuilder: but the nature of the crash it causes means I can't tell on which line.

Getting them quite often in startup when trying to add the initial Coriolis to Lave: sometimes it segfaults trying to handle the exception in Universe newShipWithName:usePlayerProxy:, sometimes it rethrows the exception fine and exits with an error.

Try turning off USE_ALLOC_POOL at the top of Geometry.m.

Hard to say for certain for a problem that only occurred on around half of startups anyway, but ten in a row without error suggests that fixed it.

OK, digging around in GNUstep it looks like this could be fixed by overriding -retain/-release. However, chances are pretty good that I’ll end up turning Geometry into a struct, so let’s not bother for now.

Hang on to a copy of the zip, and we’ll turn the planet culling back on tomorrow to see if it all falls apart again.

Aye, guv'nor. I'm having too much fun cruising around be-ringed Neptunians, so I'll keep this particular version archived.

Cool... r5370 (the nightly - planet culling re-enabled, yes?) seems to run okay, so far (both with and without OXPs).
I've self-destructed in various ways, and have been running it for a while - no crashes!

Have any passing boffins got any idea why my Fighter Hud and TAP OXPs aren't working right in trunk?

Both should be fixed in tomorrow's nightly build.
(TAP was suffering from a change in the way missile target lost messages were constructed, Fighter HUD was drawing the legends okay, but behind rather than in front of the instrument panel)

All present and correct... r5376 also runs smooth, so far.

Just had a CTD with r5413 (with my full OXP set)... first one for quite a while.
When the sun moves off my monitor, I'll run it plenty more.
