I know this is an old thread, so please forgive me, but lately (just for fun) I have been adding music to Oolite from other games like Deus Ex, System Shock and even the movie The Matrix. I tried to change the title track but for some strange reason Oolite kept playing Nigel's track when it started up. I even moved the original and re-named the replacement track to match. Very strange.
Anyways, having fun with the Random Docking Music oxp, though I wish I could figure out how to mod the ambient music too like when you first enter a system.
By the way, there is nothing wrong with the existing music, as I said I was just playing around with it, been using this track (a re-mix of UNATCO) as my docking music (amongst others), really adds a different feel to the game

Well, I like the Oolite theme... in fact, I spent some time listen to it through, watching the sample ships spin... I think it's a great theme.

I once replaced it with the Star Wars theme...it must have taken me at least five minutes to conclude this was a really naff idea, and put the 'proper' theme tune back.

It should be straightforward to replace the theme - I have an appropriately-titled instrumental in my game.
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills

I have Pagroovs music which is quite atmospheric.
Find out about the early influences of Fatleaf here. Also his OXP's!
