Communications log - Windows x Ubuntu

Post by marcusrg »

I was having some trouble to make the communications log work, with the " ' " key, that one between the escape pod and the energy bomb. But I notice that it only happens when I run Oolite in Ubuntu. Running it with Windows, the key works normal. I really don't know how to remap the keyboard in ubuntu, to make the key work, or to modify the comm log key to another one. For now, in the mission I'm going through, I prefer to use windows to run Oolite. But if someone have any hint of how can I remap the keyboard in ubuntu, it will be helpful... thanks.

Make a copy of the keyconfig.plist which (for a system-wide install) you will find in opt/oolite/oolite.app/resources/config.
Place the copy in a new 'Config' folder within your AddOns folder and rename the file to keyconfig.plist - remove the '(copy)'. Open it using the standard ubuntu text editor and you will see it lists all the functions and the keys associated with them. Simply change any keys that you want to change to the keys you want to use. You are limitd to the standard alphabetic keys by and large, but a few others are useable.
Save the file and start Oolite with the shift key held down untill you see the spinning Cobra.

You could use [wiki]Keyconfig[/wiki] as helper tool.

Great Commander Smivs! It worked! I assigned the "k" key for the comm log, the way you said to do it, and it worked fine! Thanks for the help! This is really the friendliest Gourd this side of Riedquat. :D Svengall, thanks for answering too! I solved it already!

That is so true. It is even more true for this amazing mission. I would recommend it after XS.
