Anarchies 2.8 now available

Post by Commander McLane »

The other day I noticed that Eric's clever workaround for making the Sentinel Asteroids escort their Hacker Outpost has stopped working in Oolite 1.76. However, they can now properly escort the Outpost, without a workaround.

While I was fixing this I also noticed that I had messed up the AIs of both Sentinel Stations and Renegade Stations. As a result they were never in any version of Anarchies.oxp doing what they are supposed to do. This is also fixed now. Be warned: both types of stations are now much more aggressive to ships which are on the respective "other side" of the law. This is their actually intended behavior, but as I said it never worked before. As a small bonus, Sentinel Stations now have patrol ships patrolling their vicinity.

EDIT: In order to accommodate an upcoming change in Oolite that will make the cloaking device repairable, and also to enable other OXPs with a cloaking device repair solution, I have made a small change to the repair routine in Hacker Outposts in Anarchies 2.7. The cloaking device will continue to be repairable in Hacker Outposts (as it was before), but this no longer has the potential to mess up other OXPs which offer a cloaking device repair.

EDIT 2: cim alerted me to a bug in Anarchies which could make the amnesty mission unfinishable if you saved and reloaded your game while doing it. This is fixed in Anarchies 2.8.

Anarchies 2.8 can be downloaded via its [EliteWiki] Wiki page. Have fun! :)

Good to know one of my "essential" OXPs has been given a little extra polish.

Good stuff, Commander :D

Released version 2.7 (see first post). The potential breaking of other OXPs' cloak repair solutions is fixed. Hacker Outposts still offer repairs for the cloaking device.

I like this OXP very much and have it to my personal "must-have-list" of OXP´s. Thanks for this, Commander McLane. :D Downloading.

Best regards

Released version 2.8 (see first post). The amnesty mission can now be finished when saving your game while doing it.

Just an observation! I entered the system as a fugitive and duly got attacked by a couple of bounty hunters but in the course of sweeping up baddies I was helping GalCop out a lot and managed to clear my fugitive and offender status and was now running clean.

But I still got attacked by a bounty hunter calling me scum! :?
So I led this braggart close to the main station and let him shoot at me earning him a fugitive status by hitting the station
I then summarily executed this scum fugitive and collected his bounty
And to add a cherry onto the icing I also scooped his pod and collected the bounty 8)

I'm somewhat surprised that you didn't drop his escape pod into a sun, Leafy!
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

I was thinking of doing that! But I thought it more poetic justice for the bounty hunter to be led off as a criminal instead. If he caused any damage I would then have used my tractor beam and dragged his sorry ass into the star and watched him burrrrn

Ah yes, ye olde tractor beam. Have you deep-fried any rock hermits lately, Leafy?

Never a poor old hermit trying to ech out a living in the bad Ooniverse around im! But a stinking, rotten, dirty Pirate Cove... now that is a different story.

But I have dragged a Katik base or two into the star

Looks like it was a dedicated fellow who looked right through your "law abiding" disguise. (Although it didn't do him any good, apparently. )

Technically, the bounty hunters are only spawned when the player arrives in the system as at least an offender, and have a very simple attack-the-player-no-matter-what AI. Thus there's no additional check for the the player's bounty at the moment they meet him.

That you got from fugitive to clean just through helping the police wasn't anticipated. It didn't use to be possible some Oolite versions ago. However, the same would happen if you had cleared your status at a Hacker Outpost or Salvage Gang. Thus it's clearly a bug. I'll look into it. Adding an additional check when the player is acquired as a target should be relatively straightforward.

There is a functional tractor beam?
