As I am close to my first intergalactic jump I still have a few questions. Mainly: How can I collect items after clashing the guys in space.
i guess, the rest depends on version problems: I have all the nice things installed (multi targeted system etc. but the scanner doesn't react at all automaticly or with any comfort. I also can't choose between any items. Always have to fix enemies manually by pressing "t"....a bit lousy but it did work about 175 times
So if there are any mechanics on board please let me know;) ...

You buy Fuel Scoops. These allow you to scoop free fuel from the surface of suns, and to suck up cargo containers. Fly toward floating containers and keep them in the bottom of the view screen and they will be sucked into your cargo hold - if there is any room remaining.

Flying a Cobra Mk I Cobbie 3 with nothing but Explorers Club.OXP and a beam laser 4 proper lasers for company Dropbox referral link 2GB of free space online + 500 Mb for the referral: good for securing work-in-progress.
Hi thanks for the quick answer ...now I also know what fuel scoops are good for ...I have them installed and from time to time I already collected some things....
concerning the other functions...I have almost everything installed ...also scanner targeting enhancement ...but I am still on the hunt like a virgin ...for your information ...i use version 1.75.3....is there any key or combination to switch all the extra functions on/off ...
...sucking up fuel from suns ...sounds interesting ...i have not seen any sun jet ...Also I heard of missions to play to get special items like cricket sets and so on ....hope to find these things in the other galaxies or somehow in the future ...
Hi Hansolo and welcome... you should update to the latest 1.76.1 version. If you haven't got it yet, this will enable you to cycle through targets. If you go sun-skimming, be sure to have external heat shielding installed. There are certainly some missions to do as you go through the game.
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!
I suggest you look at the Oolite Reference Sheet, found in the Oolite folder. It details all the keys you need to know for cycling targets, etc etc.
Also, have you had the Constrictor mission yet? I ask because you said you are about to do your first Galactic jump. The Constrictor mission is the first full mission (second if you count the Trumble offer as a mission), and starts in Galaxy 1.

£4,500 though! <Faints>
Cheers,
Drew.
Maybe you could start a Kickstarter Campaign to found your £4500 pledge.
Thanks to Gimi, I got an eBook in my inbox tonight (31st May 2014 - Release of Elite Reclamation)!
I'd suggest you also read Mr Gimlet's Advice To New Commanders, if you haven't already done so..
And, welcome aboard!
Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied
Don't rush it...there is so much worth doing in Galaxy One. For instance if you haven't been sight-seeing yet, you really should visit Tionisla where the Orbital Graveyard is an awesome sight, and the Tionisla Chronicle Array is most impressive.
Also the Tianve Pulsar is a must-see.
Providing you have enough kills, you will also be offered a mission ( ) in G1 as well, although this can also be offered in G2 if you jump before it is offered.

There are also some OXP missions well suited for a novice commander available in Galaxy 1:
