Docking and maybe cargo pick-up problems

Post by richard.a.p.smith »

Hello. I posted recently that there was trouble in TCAT when docking. Suggestion was a slow frame rate, I think, so I had a look and get about 90 most of the time which gives a pretty smooth ride so I am not sure it's that. The problem's a bit hard to describe but if you imagine when approaching a station that it is rotating off-axis (ie, precessing about the vector expected to entre the docking bay squarely) - that is the sort of effect. I sometimes see this and sometimes don't. Just had it now when trying to dock at the G7 Guild HQ (Esrire?). Virtually impossible to dock! Earlier today the DC worked perfectly on a Torus somewhere else. Something that "feels" related is that (again sometimes) when picking up cargo the canisters do not behave in the Newtonian fashion one might expect; they move in curves and jump about a bit. A touch on the keyboard and they'll suddenly jump up and smash on the windscreen, so to speak, instead of going into the fuel scoops. It does seem worse at slow speeds. In fact, when docking just now at the Guild dodec the speed was about halfway to yellow and there was no actual movement towards the station. Ayone else seen this sort of behaviour? Any ideas what this might be? Rich.

It could perhaps be your military fuel injectors. They impart an extra velocity, which may not be draining off as quickly as it perhaps should.

Try temporarily disabling that OXP and see if it helps. If it does I'll look at modifying the OXP to see if I can make it less of an issue.

Hi. Thanks for the response. No, it's not those injectors, or MilHUD, or Q-charger. I'll try a version where I remove everything. Maybe it's the way the PC is using OpenGL? Richard.

Are you maybe flying some weirdo oxp ship with a ******-up collision ? / ~front view ? / ~scoop position ?

(no idea if the latter actually changes scooping behaviour. With a standard ship, just try to bump the cargo with the lower / front part of the ship's "hull" )

Hi. Not the oxp ship (supercobra). It's the same effect with a boa2. I have to say, the effect is rather like what you suggest, as if the ship is not where the view is. Cheers. Richard.
