Windows Live - Skydrive - A good alternative to Box.com?
Hi all,
I recently went onto my Hotmail email account (which I don't use very much) and noticed this feature. It seems to be a cloud storage solution, where you get 25 Gb of space to share stuff.
The only thing is I don't understand if people without Windows Live accounts can access the files.
As a test I have uploaded my fixed version of Assassins OXP, v1.3.3, into my Public folder. Can anyone, perhaps a Mac user, access it?
If you can, then it may be a good alternative to Box.com.

Just downloaded that with no problem, JH. I'm using Win XP, but not Windows Live.
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

That's great. Still want to know if Mac users can access it too.El Viejo wrote:Just downloaded that with no problem, JH. I'm using Win XP, but not Windows Live.

Then the 25 Gb space could be a very useful alternative to Box.com. Especially for those users who have filled up their free Box accounts, and want to upload more stuff.

Didn't work for me (old Firefox install on Linux). It looked like it was doing something with Javascript, but never finished it.

Hmmm, not so good. Maybe you need to upgrade your Firefox? Do you have an alternative browser to try with?cim wrote:Didn't work for me (old Firefox install on Linux). It looked like it was doing something with Javascript, but never finished it.

It worked for me on Windows ME (yes, WinME) running Firefox 2.0.0.20 and Xubuntu 11.10 running Firefox 11. It also tells the world your real name, in case that bothers you.JazHaz wrote:Hmmm, not so good. Maybe you need to upgrade your Firefox? Re: Windows Live - Skydrive - A good alternative to Box.com
Probably - it's a security-patched 3.5 - but I'm using Debian stable which is generally a fair bit behind the "latest" software, and installing a newer Firefox separately is just hassle. (Still, if it works on 2.0)JazHaz wrote:Maybe you need to upgrade your Firefox?
Debian stable will probably itself be updated in early 2013, so I can work around it by dual-booting in to Windows until then. Don't worry about not using it solely on my account - I don't think many other people will be using Debian stable as a desktop/games OS...
