Re: Oolite.org updated media?
Yes, me too. I also like the look for the other wiki pages better than in the first iteration, but still find the black/white contrast uncomfortable to look at. I'd really prefer a standard wiki look...
Re: Oolite.org updated media?
Okay - shall I apply the new main page and main page styles to the new Wiki, then, moving the current main page to a separate "Document_Portal" page, and removing the generic page styles from the stylesheet?

I'm in favour of that, but it might be prudent to run the concept by Ahruman first just to make sure he approves. It might also be an idea to gauge the thoughts of other members of the forum, not just Maik and I (who seem to be the only ones with fire in our bellies about this).
I don't think Winston seems to be bothered (nor do I actually think he is, in the absence of opinion to the contrary).

As far as I am concerned, go for it. We are talking about the Oolite Wiki after all, not Winston's Elite Wiki. At least we have something more to show then.

I have stayed quiet on this as the progress so far has been good in my opinion. I don't have much time to learn how to contribute practically to working on it but I agree it needs to be done. I also appreciate the efforts that the few of you who have the skills have made with this.Selezen wrote:I'm in favour of that, but it might be prudent to run the concept by Ahruman first just to make sure he approves. There are a few issues I think needs to be addressed and they are getting addressed. The main issue I see is the fact that Winston is absent and no one seems knows why. Is he even alive? The rest of the issues can be worked out in the good nature that this community is known for.
So keep up the good work. It is appreciated.

Re: Oolite.org updated media?
I am spending some years dead for tax reasons.
Indeed, it's not my wiki, I just provide server space. Incidentally I've not got any of those mails people have sent, it may be because the messages from the forum have been dropped and I forgot my password . . .
If you want to run it on the current server, someone just needs to be given a login over ssh to administer the current one.
This is probably the easiest option for now.
If you want to move it elsewhere, I can do a mysqldump of the whole database and make a tarball of the entire directory structure, that way you can just unpack it on the new webserver and fill the new database.

Re: Oolite.org updated media?
Hi Dylan! Long time no see! Good to see you again.
I can't answer the question about leaving the Oolite Wiki where it is, as there seems to have been a lot of movement about moving it and reskinning it to become the oolite.org website.
I think it would be advantageous to have a backup copy of the database and file structure though, just in case. Not sure what others would think...

Re: Oolite.org updated media?
Yes. I think there's probably two ways forward from here:Selezen wrote:I can't answer the question about leaving the Oolite Wiki where it is, as there seems to have been a lot of movement about moving it and reskinning it to become the oolite.org website.
1) Keep the Oolite content on the general Elite wiki, and find some other way to address the desire for easier editing of oolite.org
2) Move most of the Oolite content to the Oolite Wiki, just keeping a few basics on the Elite wiki, and have the Oolite Wiki replace oolite.org
That being the case it seems to make sense to make the changes previously discussed in this thread to the new Wiki, so that people can see what that would be like without having to mess around with custom stylesheets in user space; if we decide to go for option 1, that can safely be discarded without really affecting anything else.
So: "homepage" http://maikschulz.de/wiki/Main_Page and "wiki homepage" http://maikschulz.de/wiki/Oolite_Documentation
