Storm Shipyards

Post by Storm »

Hi folks,

As I mentioned in the Show and Tell, I have decided to start my own thread for revealing my various works in progress. To start off with, here are some thumbnails linked to pictures of the ship I am calling the Hyena Class Escort.

Ooh! Nice-looking ship! It has a purposeful air about it, and it sits well with the original designs. I like that yellow colour too ... even if it's just a basic skin, it's a good place to start from.

Thanks, quite happy with how the Hyena turned out. No skins yet, just basic Wings3D face colouring to help differentiate the hull / engines etc.

Next up, the Viper and Viper Interceptor, with police lights.

Well you've managed to de-cheese-wedge it - which is good, but it looks a little busy, and perhaps and little stunted now.

I'm very much enjoying your re-imaginings.

Ha yes the original wireframe mesh for the Fer-de-Lance is an ugly shape. Doesn't really scream slick bounty hunter at all. Not sure mine does either... may go back to it later and see if I can make it less cluttered.

Heh... I just pulled into Maraus, checked the shipyard, and found nineteen Ferdies for sale... and one Anaconda!
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

Do want.

Amazing job. I really like how you kept the lines and look of the originals. Looks very nice.

Thanks. The most leeway for redesign when keeping to the original wiremesh models as much as possible seems to be the engines but I think they may look a little bland otherwise, especially when comparing to the likes of Griff's models. Still early days though - hopefully some nice skins and lighting effects will make them look a lot better.

Next up, a new ship, the Cheetah, which should give the racing Mamba a run for its money...
