Well, actually, no it wouldn't. On the Arctic Circle you have one day a year without sun light. On the poles you have 6 months. That is the theory anyway. So right now, the sun is back on the Arctic Circle. However, on the North Pole, it would still count as a nightly.DaddyHoggy wrote:It would in the Arctic Circle...
Edit: I'm being a pain and a nitpick now, aren't I.

This is a year old! I don't need to be reminded of my obsessive tendencies.Smivs wrote:I just love this forumGimi wrote:Well, actually, no it wouldn't. A year old ?!
It showed up as an unread post for me as well....I just responded to it-didn't check the date-stamp.
Weird

Re: Distracting nonsense
The question is, how does one derail a thread entitled Distracting nonsense?
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

Re: Distracting nonsense
So, the perfect way to derail the thread would be to post something technical about Linux trunk nightlies here.Ahruman wrote:Until yesterday, it was called “Oolite Linux - Trunk nightly builds”.El Viejo wrote:The question is, how does one derail a thread entitled Distracting nonsense?

Re: Distracting nonsense
Hmm... maybe. But seeing as 'Oolite Linux - Trunk nightly builds' has been labelled as 'Distracting nonsense', any technical post pertaining to 'Oolite Linux - Trunk nightly builds' would in fact be about 'Distracting nonsense', and would be entirely on-topic, and therefore not a derailment!Commander McLane wrote:So, the perfect way to derail the thread would be to post something technical about Linux trunk nightlies here.

Re: Distracting nonsense
That's not quite what happened. The stuff in this thread was split away from the still perfectly existing and not-at-all-relabed Oolite Linux - Trunk nightly builds thread and given its own silly label on behalf of DaddyHoggy, because each thread needs to have a subject. Ahruman could have simply deleted the off-topic posts, but I guess if he started doing something so radical, the boards would implode.El Viejo wrote:Hmm... maybe. Re: Distracting nonsense
In this particular case – a year-old joke being resurrected in the middle of a conversation in a “working” thread – I was sorely tempted.Commander McLane wrote:Ahruman could have simply deleted the off-topic posts, but I guess if he started doing something so radical, the boards would implode.

Re: Distracting nonsense
Hey, not me - I made that joke in good faith - a year ago - when it was completely in context of the Linux nightly builds only being updated once every six months...Commander McLane wrote:That's not quite what happened.
