Most information about Oolite, its keypresses, its features etc. can be found in the documentation, especially the readMe and the Reference Sheet that come together with the game installation. It is highly advisable to read those first.
Most OXPs also come with a readMe which explains what they do and how they do it, and how to use the equipment which they may provide. On top of that, the same information is also provided on most OXPs' Wiki pages. These are the first places to consult if there is a question related to a specific OXP.

Advanced mapping is one part of the BGS OXP as I'm sure you have deduced. At present it is supported but the developers are still working to make it fully functional. Specifically, it will display information on the long range chart identical to the galactic charts on the Oolite Wiki here:ulaidian wrote:How do I turn it on?? What is it?

This thread should probably be move to Expansion Packs
Re: Advanced Mapping is OFF
Yep, the functionality is already fully supported in BGS (and could be used by other OXPs already). The maps itself will come as additional OXP (BGS-XMapping) when completed. It will display the named regions and spacelanes from ClymAngus cool galaxy maps. When fresh installed the user gets only 2 maps for G1, updates are received from time to time via Snoopers for the current galaxy. Additionally if GalacticNavy is installed all Navy HQs are displayed on a special map.CaptSolo wrote:Advanced mapping is one part of the BGS OXP as I'm sure you have deduced. Re: Advanced Mapping is OFF
Cool that it's supported, even though it's unfinished - how do I activate it?
Re: Advanced Mapping is OFF
There's not much you can do. The advanced mapping disables itself if there's nothing to show. The maps itself will become available when BGS-XMapping gets released - the support for it is already in BGS-M (the script in BGS-A.oxp and BGS-M.oxp). Progress is slow currently as I got sidetracked with cutscene expansions for Cabal_Common_Briefing .-)
(Supported means that the mechanisms to insert and handle the maps is already in BGS, but the maps itself are not in this OXP).
I'm still undecided if BGS-X should be shipped with BGS-A or if it's better done as additional OXP. The combined OXP would be a nice option, but a additional OXP is easier to maintain and gives the option to use it with BGS-M.oxp+BGS-I.oxp as well.

I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!
