Oops, sorry - now re-installed latest cabal library and all works fine.

Yep, BGS has moved to CCL. This is new - before BGS had no dependencies. If no CCL is found or a older version the script shuts down. In theses cases the user gets a onscreen message and a entry in Latest.log. As BGS is using now 6 or 7 methods in CCL it simply doesn't make sense anymore to duplicate the functionality and only CCL1.5 does support the coming BGS-XMapping. Additionally I'm not testing anything with older versions anymore, so I simply couldn't even say if something would be working with older CCL versions.

:/
dunno. still no sounds here.
I get a launch sound, but no chatter, music, accelerate/decelerate or station sounds.
1.76
CCL 4.5
I tried putting in PAgrooves alternative soundset, and still no sounds.

Have you got the latest OXPConfig? That has options to turn off sounds in BGS, so maybe you have it set to turn them off?

Oh and CCL I think is 1.5 not 4.5...

ahh, sorry, CCL 1.4.5
the '1' was on the end of CCL on the line above.
And therein lies the problem!

Thanks.
CCL1.5 loaded - problem fixed.

Where did v1.4.5 come from?
I might have downloaded it just before Svengalli updated the box download on 16th.

I would like to know a little more about BGS-XMapping support on LongRangeChart and how it is used?

BGS-XMapping is a additional module for BGS (not available yet, but the support for it is already in BGS-A and BGS-M). It displays the named regions and spacelanes from ClymAngus maps via overlay on the Long Range Chart. The script checks the position of the cursor (red cross) against sets of inserted polys or lines. Supported are 4 different types of shapes (Rectangle, Circle, NPoly and Line). To speed up the processing inserted shapes are getting a bounding box internally.

BGS-XMapping.oxp will start the player with only 1 region (The old worlds) and 1 lane in G1. From time to time players will receive a update via Snoopers for the current galaxy and over time they have all regions and lanes together. OXPs can expand on that and insert own maps. Additionally there is functionality for 'special maps' (e.g. all Navy HQs) and OXPs can insert own overlays. The special maps are handled differently as there is no position check for them, but they can be activated by steering the cursor over the areas on the right side. The functionality can be controlled in the same way. The right side has areas for switching the mapping on/off, toggles for regions and lanes and three slots for special maps and cycling through the available special maps. If no maps are available in the current galaxy (right now) BGS disables the feature.

The insertion is not documented, simply because BGS-X is not finished yet and we won't get it out before christmas, which is my fault - updates for the other OXPs and some RL productions have eaten my time .-) G6 is nearly completed, but progress is really slow atm. I'll upload the current status and send you the link with some instructions how to use the insertion.

The only problem I have found with the new version is during the witchspace transit (which used to work lovely) just moments after the screen goes nearly white (which used to persist until you arrived in the new system) it now goes all dingy for a while instead. Just ruins the effect a bit. (I'm using 1.76, latest Background set and latest Cabal Common Library)

Thanks Svengali!

I didn't even see the update due to the MANY oxp's coming out lately. We are spoilt
I had also the no sound problem but I see you fixed the custom sounds.plist.

Downloading it tonight :)

The BGS-X feature sounds very exciting! Can't wait to see a screenshot. :).

Quick question: Which part of BGS contains the hyperspace tunnel effect? I have only installed BGS-I and the effect doesn't appear.

It'll be the full BGS-A set... I think.

Reading back in the thread I found the answer myself: it's in BGS-M.

So the next question arises: how do I disable everything else BGS-M does except this shader effect?

In the script file in the config folder,
lines 13, 17, 19, 21, 23, 25, 27, 29, 31 all = false
line 35 = true
line 36 = false

That should just about do it.

Does this mean you have a list of the system IDs for each region/lane? If so, could I have a copy please? (If it's not finished, then obviously I'm happy to take what you have so far, compile the rest myself, and give you that back)
