If you want to put stuff directly on ftp.alioth.net/oolite let me know, I can create you an account with the right permissions.

Packages on berlios are good too - a A LOT of folk get their Oolite from there.

@Winston: At present, i'm at work, so can't really upload too much, so maybe (if you wanted to) you could do the honours (alioth&berlios) till i'm a bit more settled. Thanks if you can :) Don't worry if you can't.

Hmm Oolite wont run, the install went OK, but the application doesn't run, tried it twice and no joy so I've reinsatalled the previous version:

oolite-1.63gusto-alpha20060309-win32

which starts ok

EDIT
Belay that I've reinstalled the latest version and this time it does run!!

Just installed it - loving the new version!

Only two problems I've seen:

1. The commander's name keeps getting munged up so you see something like "Command sshttertexxxvv".

2. The first time I saved, the file went to C:\Program Files\Oolite\oolite.app\oolite.app\GNUstep\Defaults.

I just jumped through my first hyperspace cloud - that's cool. Also, thanks be to whoever fixed the space compass in the Windows version.

I lost my old save file with the fully fitted Cobra and about 100,000CR. Starting again... just did enough runs to go from 100CR to buying the docking computer, large cargo hold, and advanced targetting. Things should move on more quickly now!
Regards,
David Taylor.

WOW.. thanks to everyone who got this working on windows I'm haveing a great time :):)

even the USB joystick works!!! its awesome!!!..

I seem to suck at combat... can't rememeber it being that hard on C-64 or Amiga... but its probably just that I'm out of practice :)

Oolite is a bit harder than the 8-bit Elites. Added to that, you can quite easily be mugged by more ships than the 8-bit Elites could contain in a single system!
