Updating from Oolite v1.51

hello,

I'm just a noob, so apologies for asking such a mundane question.

If I download version 1.62 can I port my save. I am now ranked Competent with 300 kills and am looking for the Constrictor. I don't like the idea of starting from scratch but I guess I will to get the new wormhole effects + others.

Yes, saved games from even the very earliest versions of Oolite should work with the latest version.

To upgrade from v1.51 you should download the v1.62 full disk image from http://www.digitalnervouswreck.com/oolite/oolite.dmg

It helps if you post what platform you are running on.

However, the answer should be the same for all platforms, so yes, you can carry your commander to the next version. Just copy the file somewhere safe, update your copy of Oolite and then copy the file back to where it should be.

Although the first stable non-OSX build was 1.52, so I think he's probably using OS X
