What a rip off!

Post by Dragonfire »

At one commander's suggestion, I docked with a Navy station to get better prices on equipment and fuel.

Turns out, the prices are five to ten times higher than that of the main station only a few seconds of fuel injection away!

What's up with that? Is there some way I can get better prices? (And yes, I bought a war bond and enlisted...the latter because I want an excuse to blast more Thargoids.)

If you buy enough war bonds then the prices drop by 50% then after a few more purchases 75% which makes it half the price of the main station. And you get free fuel as well.

Okay, well, that makes sense. I'll be buying a LOT more war bonds, then, as I have money.

At this point, I just need to save up to do a maintenance overhaul on my Red Wyvern...but I don't have the 21 K I need (I'm hovering between 8 and 12 K).

I have three. Prices are starting to go down, but I think I have a ways to go before everything is half price. :\

At least, thanks to trading several dozen tons of furs between the main station and a rock hermit (and then buying out the rock hermit's stock and selling it at the station), I doubled my money. That is one lucrative trading situation!

It would take a lot to double my money, but I would LOVE it. How much do you have now?

I went from around 16-18 K to around 25-28 K. I don't have the exact specs in front of me, but yeah. That, combined with my usual computer trading and my bounty hunting....man oh man.

Err that'd probably be me that suggested the military station, must have forgot to mention about the buying of war bonds

I have about 250 bonds @ 1000Cr each and have 75% discount, makes a huge difference to maintenance costs and equipment.
My normal maintenance is about 65KCr.
I was only buying a couple at a time till I had my desired ship and broke my second Million then I'd buy 50 at a time.

I don't remember how many bonds I needed to get the 75%, but kept buying more just in case the discount increased, didn't know there was a limit at the time. I'm not really that sure that the 75% is real, might just say that and only be 50% actually.
I'll need to have a closer look at that the next service stop.

Either way they have paid for themselves a few times over.
I don't feel so guilty about shooting off military grade missiles, so cheap to replace them :)

Am I right in thinking it is the Galactic Navy OXP that provides these stations and War Bonds?

Are there any pre-requisites?

Edit: This looks like a slightly painful-to-install OXP.

Yes you are right. But what do you mean by "painful"? If you are clean it can be your best friend. Especially if the Monks are after your hide!
