Well there is still a good 6 months or so left for peeps to write their masterpiece and some other good stuff posted this year. Best Oolite fiction to date? 3 titles by different authors spring to mind for me......
Indeed, I was only half joking. I intend to have at least one epic tale finished by that time, if not two. Fitting it in round RL is a little trickier.

I wouldn't say it was foregone at all...

When I was reading 'Calliope' inparticular, I was thinking - "Damn, wish I'd written that!" 8)

I love Calliope too...

I haven't written anything since Snake Charming in the hope of getting something at least in the same ball part as Calliope...

((( )))

That's my head swelling dangerously – thanks, Drew & DH! Coming from writers such as yourselves that's hugely gratifying. Although, DaddyHoggy, I don't like the idea that you're not writing any oofic ...

I have a couple of ideas, one clashes horribly with Drew's interpretation of the Ooniverse and it almost seems rude to carry on with it, the other is different enough that it shouldn't matter. I've started this 2nd one but it's on hold due to RL(tm) i.e. work commitments, a need to finish my novel before I'm 40 (9 weeks and counting) because it's being reviewed by my writer's circle and the same writer's circle has a twice yearly story comp (which I won last summer and came third last winter) and my entry for the current comp is due in August...

There will definitely be more Oofic - but I want it to be good Oofic and the bar been raised and I don't wish to knock it off!

I'll be drawing a line under oofic after 'Finis'. Baton passed and all that.

Too many other things I want to do and there's a danger my stuff would get stale. There's also the problem that I've got quite a lot of sci-fi ideas which absolutely won't work in the Ooniverse due to the way the Ooniverse works...

Ooo... tell me more! And (wags finger sternly) that's no excuse for not writing it. My intrepretation of the oouniverse is just that, mine. No reason why you can't put forward yours!

Cheers,

Drew.

I think that best OXP of the year should be devided into:

Ships Equipment and Missions

and also, what happens if the winning oxp was made by more than one person?

I'd go with that, deciding between eg. cargo shepherd and the upcoming Xeptatl's Sword mission seems a little unbalanced.

Ships would cover anything from a shuttle up through to stations and generation ships. Re-textures of existing ships should be included here, as should ships used in missions. (Judge the mission as a mission and the ship as a ship)

Equipment would include weapons and HUDs.

Where the rest of the oxps fit is slightly harder. Looking at the list on the wiki, we're left with Activities, Ambience, Mechanics, Missions, Systems, and the ever enigmatic Misc. It may be simplest to lump all these together as works of comparable difficulty, but I've no idea what the category would be called.

Simple, they share the award, and they all have to make an acceptance speech  . Individually or as a group, their choice.

Mm, what about dockables? Those really can't stand up against ships, because they have their own merits.
