HUD Problem!Hope you can Help

Post by ICON »

Hey all,

1.i Tray to install MK-1 fighter HUD and Deepspace HUD.
But in the Game i became only the Standard HUD.
The only HUD that will running is the TrekHud.

2.And is the MK-1 fighter HUD only for use in MK-1 or can i use the HUD in any other Ship :?:

I allways copy the HUD OXP into the Olite-Trunk/Addons folder.Thats all, right?
I am using Oolite-Trunk 1.75.3.461 version of the Game.

3.And i have another question i am using "externalviews.oxp"because what are the Key configuration settings from This?
I am using the "V" Key to switch the views but the camera postion is very near by the Ship.Is there a cinematic view who the Ship past the camera :?:
Is there another Special-key :?:

Thanks for Help.

1. It's normal that you can use only one HUD OXP
2. The folder is right
3. Isn't external views deprecated?

I know it's normal using only one HUB.
First i have installed the TrekHUB and its runnig, than i delete it.
Second i installed the Fighter HUB, but nothing happens.
At last I installed the Deepsapce HUB but nothing.
To time in the Addon Folder is only one HUB OPX.

3.Sorry what did yout mean" deprecated".
i only copy "External Views" in the same Addon Folder. What else :?: :?

Thank you for answer. :)

The functionality offered by external views oxp is now built-in to the game, so you don't need that oxp anymore.

in-flight, you can use the V key to switch between the available external views for your ship.

Specifically, external views (the OXP) was written because Oolite never used to have a mechanism for displaying external views so it was done via this OXP. Now Oolite code natively handles external views (with the v key as you have discovered) within the base code itself.

Therefore, externalviews.oxp won't do anything except take up valuable clock cycles.

I can't help with the HUD problem I'm afraid - I'm a traditionalist (only use the original HUD).

What does the latest.log report when you use a HUD that does not display - it could be an error in HUD itself - what OS are you using? (Windows/Mac/Linux)

I know. I was thinking English is not ICON's first language, and brevity was more important than accuracy.

Some HUDs are designed for 4:3 rather than 16:9 ratio screens - I think Fighter HUD might be such a HUD.

You got the sun in your screen, and it and it's light blocks out a lot of the background.

Turn around (or use F2 rear view) , so you won't have a big lightsource in the viewscreen.

External Views was an OXP that corrected the suboptimal external views of Oolite 1.65, Oolite 1.67, Oolite 1.68 and Oolite 1.69. It has been incorporated in Oolite 1.70, therefore since then it is obsolete. This is the reason why it is only listed in the [wiki]OXP Attic[/wiki] with the short description: "External Views added better outside views to all the Classic Elite Ships for Oolite versions prior to 1.70." And the explaining text of the OXP Attic page explicitly says "The following table contains OXPs that are not relevant for Oolite 1.75 anymore. They served their purpose in the past, some are only a memory of what was." I think that should be pretty clear.

Only an idiot would download something from that page and expect it to be useful.
