Only just got them so have no idea how good they are.
Would love to know how to switch off the charging sound, it's quite irritating.
Having worked with electronics all my adult life, Capacitors make no sound when charging, the power suppy can for bigger ones, but a good sized capacitor makes quite an impressive bang on sudden discharge.
Anyway I'd rather not have the sound effect if possible.

Re: Shield Capacitors
It might be a good idea to put this query in the shield capacitors thread. https://bb.oolite.space/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=9777 It might reach all the right folks that way!
Find out about the early influences of Fatleaf here. Also his OXP's!

Re: Shield Capacitors
Alex, there are solutions to your problem. First you can go into the sounds file and rename the shield capacitor charged and shield capacitor charging sound.ogg files(adding a word or character will do). No charging sounds will be played but the way I coded the script results in a continuous charging message(not intentional but this insures that that you get the message one way or another ). A better solution is to use an audio editor like audacity and make a sound file that you like from sounds available for free for your own personal copy. Or simply take the sound files and edit them so they play only silence. Whatever you do please be sure that the charging sound file is the same length because I am using a repeat count and the total repeats currently are just enough to last fully charging a capacitor.
I hope you get some enjoyment out of this oxp, it is my first one. I never considered that someone would dislike the sound effect that much and it was simply designed to be distinctive and clearly convey the fact that the capacitors were in a state of charge without you having to even look. The sound is a countdown timer/alarm not the sound of the capacitors themselves charging. A person could simply modify the oxp to something more appropriate for their own personal use. In a future version I might consider letting the user select from a number of sounds or turning the timer countdown off entirely.
If anyone has any further ideas/comments please post them in the shield equalizer + capacitor thread in expansion packs forum. Alex I hope this provides a solution to your problem.
Also Fatleaf is correct. The issue should have been raised in the thread in expansion packs forum as the wiki page even has a link for info to it.

Take an idea from one person and twist or modify it in a different way as a return suggestion so another person can see a part of it that can apply to the oxp they are working on.
