Also when it has been 'towed away' by a hognose.
It will say 'fly outward from planet' when nothing is there. Maybe if one follows this line to the end of the system...

sorry that was unclearly put by me.
station icon Image is only shown when you're within the Aegis.

so the advanced compass doesn't work like that on PC?

Why yes it is, without the blue rim though.
And no mention of being in Station-safezone. .

Never tried to toggle it yet.

i always toggle the compas to point to the N beacon so as to
jump towards the station rather than towards the planet way
before it is visible. also useful for flying back through the corridor
to see if there is any more traffic. (Pointing the compas at the
W beacon.)

The turning-into-a-square-near-station thing isn’t specific to the Advanced compass.

The latest windows version does not have any space compass at all, well mine doesn't anyway, it does make things a bit tricky. The previous version did have the centre part but not the outer ring, so it did at least point you in the right direction.

I navigate by eye ball.
Usually the station can be seen quite far off.

Code: Select all

in the shipdata.plist entry. The string can be anything - the first letter is what's displayed in the advanced space compass.
Can this string be used in any shipdata.plist entry (rock hermits, ships) or only beacons? If not would it be overly difficult and/or time-consuming to implement?

pretty sure that's free use for absolutely any entity you'd want to appear in the advanced compass.

Unfortunately not, I just tried it out on a rock hermit and it didn't work.

Hmm. It certainly should work. Tests out okay with space-stations and asteroids - may be there were no rock-hermits insystem when you tested?

You're right, it does work. I was testing it out with my Ionics OXP and I must have loaded the wrong savegame.

speaking of rock hermits...

Post by frankie »

...is it possible to have passengers or contracts with a rock hermit as the destination?

Also, adding my $0.02 in favor of a wider variety of minor missions popping up. Flying trade back and forth 1000x just doesn't do it for me.

One very simple small and very straightforward two-letter word: No.

...Or at least i don't think so because rock hermits seem to appear at random. Or am i wrong?

Ah, yes missions! *drool*
I like pie, chocolate, games, Oolite, and quick-and-easy missions that keep appearing from time to time unless they're the same ones.....

Gosh that's a mouthful

Not as part of the regular game, but as a scripted mission, sure!
