Hi Gimi,
Try using some of the Filters in Gimp.

Your original

Image

This one is faded, scuffed and dirty.

Image

Five steps.
1) Filters - Noise - RGB (mottles the image a bit)
2) Eraser. Big brush and low opacity (gives a slightly transparent worn look)
3) Big nebula airbrush - brown with medium opacity (makes it look dirty)
4) Big nebula airbrush -white with low opacity (softens the 'dirt')
5) Filters - Artistic - Gimpressionist - placement - stroke density set to very low (adds scuffs and scratches).

These filters are great for all sorts of effects...just play around with them and you'll find tons of useful tricks.
Thanks smivs. Scruffy decals coming this evening.

Gimi... that Hydroo ad... shouldn't it be Duralium?
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills

I used the real name for the alloy. (The RL alloy). I'll dig down in the literature (The Dark Wheel and others) and see if I can find the right spelling. Thanks for the heads up.

It actually looks better with that spelling... more balanced.

Might i suggest changing FM to WB or to FM & WB. There is a lot of talk of Wide Band in Oolite fan lit.

Another one.

Acroorist and Roolex needs more competition....

A bit simple, but I like it for its simplicity.

Edit 1: Image didn't scale well, second try.
Edit 2: Fixed spelling mistake in ad. (Thank you Commander McLane)

I like it, and I owned a Rock Watch for a long time. Sadly it didn't survive the climatic conditions in tropical Africa.

One question, though: 'inovators'? Some pun on 'nova' or typo (should have two 'n's)?

Aaargh! #&%^2

Edit: Bloody MS Word  . It accepted both spellings. Got so annoyed I pulled out my Oxford Dictionary to check.

Thank you for the heads up. Will fix right away.
I have a T-Touch Expert by the way. Like Tissot.
