Wormhole scanner bug on enemy ship?

Using Oolite 1.7.4.

Game hardly ever crashes, and has not in weeks. But destroyed a pirate sidewinder scout and
an error debug box came up, shows a problem because the enemy ship had a worm-hole scanner?

Had choice to debug or quit, and the box closed before I go do anything...

Not sure if this has happened to anyone, or just a freak happening?

I am wondering if the OXP "cargo wrecks teaser" might have caused the crash, as I was running it with another cargopod OXP.

I removed cargo wrecks in any case, as the crash only happened in my 1st play session with this mod...

This one is from GalNavy. As per readMe it requires also the behemoth.oxp to be installed.

I don't have the relevant ship oxps (Firewasp.oxp, griffin2.oxp), so I can't tell you why they won't work. The pods_missilepod.js problem will be in either Cargo_wrecks_teaser 1.6.3.oxp or Pods 1.20.oxp (again, I don't have them).

As for the guntex.png error, I'm usually familiar with that popping up with the Black Monks, but you don't have that installed, so I'm not sure where that's from. Edit: it does appear in my renegades oxp, though I don't know why there might be a problem with it...

I would suspect an obsolete version of behemoth.oxp.

pods_missilepod.js is from pods.oxp (the hint is in the prefix ;) ). That said it's in my copy of the OXP, so I'm curious to understand where it's gone in your one. It may be worth going in with explorer to that folder (AddOns/Pods 1.20.oxp/Scripts) and seeing if it is actually there or not.

If it is try opening it with a text editor (usual game-rules apply about not using Notepad) and seeing if anything is corrupt inside it.

I didn't know that old one was still available. :wink: But correct, the script name of version 1.0 was "Test" and that name is among the installed scripts.

I too am having this issue. I do not know how to make a log file, if someone can let me know I will sort one out. This has happened a few times to me now, and is also usually when I have just destroyed a sidewinder!

Error is:

I know I have messed with the MilHud, I did not think that I had changed that much, but from the log file it would appear that I have some work to do :(

Basically all I did was make the mil hud look like the standard hud, but with different crosshairs, and also never show a damaged hud display. I never liked the damaged hud display as I was often getting this because of lots of ECM.

Now this is useful information. Logs are far less interesting. :-)

This indicates that you somehow targeted a wormhole. Either there’s a logic bug allowing you to do that, or an entity ID for a ship got recycled for a wormhole (FIXME: eliminate those nasty, dangerous entity IDs). In any case, I’ve changed this to be non-crashy.

Hey, no need to be sorry, we are all playing a free game and messing around with it for fun :)

I'll take a look at the new files and see what happens.

As for the wormhole thing, I think there is some sort of logic bug going on. I know when I have destroyed something I auto-target "something" sometimes. Ie, sometimes I will suddenly see a cargo container targeted that is 400km+ away from me, or a wormhole, asteroid etc. I have not really put my finger on exactly when this is happening, but I don't think its part of the core. My gut feeling is that it is some sort of interaction between the auto-targetter oxp and the acs system that auto targets missiles. Not sure really....

I'll work on the HUD, and maybe release "my" work once its complete.
