Griff ships weirdness

Post by Phantom Hoover »

I disabled Griff ships a while ago after my graphics drivers started playing up, yet I still see them regularly in place of normal ships. There seems to be no reason for it, and the normal ships are still used. My Latest.log is:

Code: Select all

[log.header]: Opening log for Oolite version 1.74.2 (x86-64 test release) under Linux at 2010-12-28 14:15:35 +0000.
2 processors detected.
Oolite options: procedural planet textures, docking clearance, wormhole scanner, target incoming missiles, spoken messages, JavaScript console support, OXP verifier, localization tools, debug GraphViz support.

Note that the contents of the log file can be adjusted by editing logcontrol.plist.

Maybe you need to clear the cache....hold down 'shift' when starting the game until you see the spinning Cobra.

I did that. It didn't work. I deleted the cache file in ~/GNUStep. It didn't work. I suppose I could rm -r ~/GNUStep, but that's going a little too far.

EDIT: I did that. It didn't work.

This is weird...the log suggests you've removed the OXP completely as far as I can tell, and with a cleared cache this should not be happening.
I'm baffled, too. :?

When adding or removing oxps you should not need to clear the cache. Oolite will do it automatic in those situations. And textured are not cached at all. You can even update textures when running Oolite. When oolite releases it from memory and needs to reload it again, it will use the new texture.

So very strange that it can display griffs ships when not present. Mayby you have one of those new graphic cards that comes with griff his ships pre-installed. (Griff ships are quite popular lately  )

Hmm, the cache wasn't cleared for me too (in r3911) even after removing a Test-OXP. It took a few restarts until it was rebuild...

@Phantom Hoover: Update Vector.oxp and install the Cabal_Common_Library.oxp.

That sounds wrong. Normal players that only add/remove oxps should not need using the shift key.

And when you do a lot of oxp programming you should add the line:

Code: Select all

always-flush-cache = yes;
In your oolite preference file. (I don't know were it is on windows but you surely know). Than you never have to worry about it. And rebuilding the cache takes only few seconds extra on startup. Occasionally forgetting to clear the cache by hand cost you much more time.
