[Solved] Have an error message in terminal.Curious about it?

Post by tnc »

Hiya all.

Just on a lark, I started Oolite from terminal tonight. Threw up an error message:

tnc@tnc-desktop:~$ oolite
2010-12-24 21:19:06.862 oolite[6148] File NSUserDefaults.m: 626. In [NSUserDefaults +standardUserDefaults] Improper installation: No language locale found
bt_audio_service_open: connect() failed: Connection refused (111)
bt_audio_service_open: connect() failed: Connection refused (111)
bt_audio_service_open: connect() failed: Connection refused (111)
bt_audio_service_open: connect() failed: Connection refused (111)

Oolite is working just fine, so I am curious what this is about? Anyone able to shed some light on it?

Thanks.

Hi tnc.

2010-12-24 21:19:06.862 oolite[6148] File NSUserDefaults.m: 626. In [NSUserDefaults +standardUserDefaults] Improper installation: No language locale found
This is oolite's GNUstep complaining that it cannot find some resources related to language locales.
The autopackage oolite is delivered with a cut down version of GNUstep, in order to keep the package size small.
It is normal behavior, and it will not affect oolite execution.

bt_audio_service_open: connect() failed: Connection refused (111)
This has to do with the bluetooth audio/ALSA support package (i.e. bluez-alsa). Read here.
Concerning oolite, it relates to the built-in speech synthesis feature. Nothing to worry about.
Anyhow, if you encounter issues with the oolite built-in speech synthesis feature, read the section
"Troubleshoot speech feature", included in the "HowToInstall.txt", delivered with the oolite package.
No other oolite feature should be affected.

Merry Christmas.

Well Thank-you so much Getafix.

Oolite is working very well on my setup so we shan't be messing with it. "T'aint broke, don't fix".

As an aside, talk with Asterix and Obelix much? :)

Thanks.

The last time I saw these two, they were hunting down a Boa-r near Oresrati in Galaxy 8.
