*gasp* Shocking Slavery Scandal!
So while on my way to parts north in Galaxy One, I decide to stop by a local Pi-42 constore in the Lerelace system to refuel:
I know, I could've easily gone sundiving to get some free fuel, but I was feeling hasty, not cheap this time around.
Anyway, just for kicks, I decide to take a look at what sort of bulk goods the store has for sale, just as a way to fill my cargo. I'm immediately struck by this:
Out of 48 tons total of merchandise, nearly half of that is slaves! Is Pi-42 harboring some sort of underground slavery ring?

Slaves are legal cargo ... you can bring in as many slaves as you like into a GalCop station and nobody will bat an eyelid. Well, strictly speaking that's not true: a lot of people don't like slavery or the slave trade, and won't be shy about telling you – but it's perfectly legal. Slaves are a controlled commodity, though, like narcotics and firearms, so it's illegal to take them out of a GalCop main station without a special permit.
Dr Nil, who created the original convenience stores, always intended slaves to be a major commodity there: the originals had "Make your bid on shoplifters and deadbeats" written across the back of the docking bay.

One man's bug is another man's feature.Captain Baz wrote:It's a feature!Commander McLane wrote:Ah! The good old overflow bug/cheat (depending on intentionality and perspective).Mauiby de Fug wrote:If you visit enough Constores, you'll find some in which Food, Textiles, Slaves and Narcotics all sell for about 99.9 - 101.9 Cr/ton.
But yes, as far as I recall Dr. Nil built it in as a feature. So it's more a cheat than a bug (and one of the reasons why I don't use the OXP).
