This is perhaps more a curiosity than a bug
I had a fight with a fugitive Kirin and its escorts. Despite hitting the Kirin fairly hard, it creamed my ship, and I used my escape pod. Having reached the main station in the pod, I decided to try to go back to the Kirin (which was not that far away) and get my revenge (and rescoop my thargon fighters). I found the kirin - and the damn thing creamed me again (and entirely, this team). But, while I was still alive, I saw what seemed very much like - my old ship! It was marked as 'clean' (as I had been) but it was yellow on the scanner - so it was not derelict. Indeed, it was moving around a bit (but not fighting the kirin, I don't think). Now, all this was fun, and impressive. But, if it was my ship, should it not have been derelict? Also: shouldn't my getting-a-new-ship-via-pod-insurance have taken sufficient time that the kirin had moved on? Still, I suppose that it is just about possible that the ship I found was not my ship, but another one. Still, the ship was a Caduceus Omega - and they are very rare.

Mmmm, sound like you had one of those time-warp escape capsules. It takes you back in time as you travel to the Station.

Next time you use the escape capsule, check out how much time passes on your ship’s clock (it’ll adjust when you reach the station).UK_Eliter wrote:Also: shouldn't my getting-a-new-ship-via-pod-insurance have taken sufficient time that the kirin had moved on?
The last time I hit eject, several days elapsed… and it seems to vary quite a bit.
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

From 12 hours to 8 days when I remember correct. And the other ships not being relocated to simulate the time passed, is sort of a bug that is not likely to get fixed.El Viejo wrote:Next time you use the escape capsule, check out how much time passes on your ship’s clock (it’ll adjust when you reach the station).

The only time when ship positions are corrected is when you follow a ship through a wormhole with some delay. e.g. target a wormhole and remember the system. Than dock/undock a few times. (Every launch takes 10 minutes). When you now enter that system you previous targeted, the ship has moved on. But the system only remembers the speed at which it entered the wormhole and multiplies that with time. On some occasions that just means the ship it relocated to the other side of the planet.
And this mechanism does not know anything about AIs so even sunskimmers are moved in the direction of the planet. But all these minor bugs are only visible by those who follow ships with tools like the console or the target inspector.
UPS-Courier & DeepSpacePirates & others at the box and some older versions
I had a similar event with a fight around a Pirate Cove...I bailed (actually auto-eject went off) and I was docked with the Pirate Cove. I then launched from there in my new ship to see my old ship floating nearby. After killing the cause of my earlier bail, I then tried to use a salvage missile on my old ship...but it failed.
