[Solved] joy stick axis's

Post by Alex »

G'day Commanders,
Really strange problem;
My speed control effect the roll control??

JoystickAxes = {
0 = {
isAxis = <*BY>;
stickAxBt = <*I0>;
stickNum = <*I0>;
};
1 = {
isAxis = <*BY>;
stickAxBt = <*I1>;
stickNum = <*I0>;
};
4 = {
isAxis = <*BY>;
stickAxBt = <*I2>;
stickNum = <*I0>;

That's the GNU file. I have a 4 axis joy but according to windows it's 5 axis. there is a little stick on top which has 8 poitions, is that considered an axis?
When I configure it to inlude yaw it adds;
2 = {
isAxis = <*BY>;
stickAxBt = <*I3>;
stickNum = <*I0>;
This makes no difference to the speed axis causing the roll to go left. with speed at 0 it rolls slightly to the right.

Hope some one has some idea that helps.
the joy stick is a power wave though the same thing happens with my attack3 stick.
It's the same in versions 1.73.2 and 1.74.2

I don't know if it is directly related to what you are seeing, but we spotted a few bugs in the joystick code recently. These have been fixed in trunk, so my recommendation would be to try the latest nightly build and see if things have gotten better.

Thanks for that;
But it turned out to be the driver for the power wave joystick corrupting the registry values for calibration for both joy sticks. Well I suppose that's what I get for a 20 quid stick!!
Cleared the registry and re done the attack 3,
All back to normal, but am missing the yaw control on the stick.

I personally like to use the little stick on top to handle fore, aft, port and starboard views. The ingame configuration menu handles that pretty well, so long as the system recognises the joystick or other device (I sometimes use more than one, like a joystick and a gamepad).

I find it handy for doing a quick look-around while in a dogfight, or being able to look port as I break towards starboard to see which way the opponent is heading and etc.
Sleep? Who needs sleep? Got game. No need sleep.
