planet textures
Had a weird session just now, some planets using ship textures. See the screenshots below, first one has a texture from a Deepspace ship and the second was the same planet, as I got closer to it, the texture switched to a Naval ship texture, probably from Neolite(?).
I saved the game and quit and reloaded, and all was back to normal.
I'm using 1.73.4 and various OXPs including System Redux if that helps any?

Sometimes the textures repository does tend to be confused... hopefully the last trunk tweaks inside that code are going to make such sightings increasingly rare... I kind of remember seeing a screenshot of a moon looking a bit like this
some time ago... (some = about 2-3 years ago!)

Hey, free OXPs: farsun v1.05 & tty v0.5! :0)

Looks really cool, like painted for a punk version of the Little Prince.

Came across another bugged planet texture just now.
I call it the Baseball planet, because it looks as if there is a line of stitching around the planet! nb: clicking on the images takes you to their FlickR pages...
Also whilst I am here, not a bugged texture, came across this string of pearls:

Yep, I vaguely remember that other thread. It had commies asteroids in multiple straight lines, I think!
It's actually due to the random seed generator sometimes being reset when spawning multiple ships/objects.
That specific bug is not squashed yet, but it's running out of places to hide...

Eh? Don't remember that one. The only OXP I can think of from my mob that spawns asteroids is Lave Academy, and they're not like that iirc.Commander McLane wrote:Yes, that's from one of Thargoid's OXPs, I think, which spawns asteroids in threes (probably accidentally). IIRC it has shown up in another thread a while ago. Does anybody remember?
My OXPs via Boxspace or from my Wiki pages .

Thanks for reply. I expect that when needing to upsize planet on screen as you approach it qoes off momentarily then reappears (slow). My planets do that but are only absent for a few milliseconds e.q. 90.
Then immediately reappear (I wouldn't notice, but sometimes the planet is eclipsing the sun & there's a subliminal glimpse of the latter).
I'll keep PNG's under 500KB then, much less where possible. Cheers.

Again, the file size has no effect on any texture problems in the game.Zbond-Zbond wrote:I'll keep PNG's under 500KB then, much less where possible.

Mine disappear for a lot longer, tens of seconds probably depending on whether I'm jumping or flying normally....Zbond-Zbond wrote:Thanks for reply. I believe that you have replied under the wrong thread. It should be here: https://bb.oolite.space/viewtopic.php?p=107407#107407
Can an admin move these three posts back please?
