Galactic Navy OXP

Post by Jonluc Picard »

Just completed the Thargoid Mission in Galaxy 3 and decided to install Galactic Navy OXP.
First mission "destroy the pirate fleet at Soatqube". I have done this several times but when docked still told to destroy pirate fleet. Any ideas anyone?

Don't worry about it. It'll disappear from the mission screen eventually. The missions are random, so if you go to the Secom base you'll be offered another one I think.

Oh and welcome to the friendliest board this side of Riedquat!™

You need to destroy a pirate base (looks like an asteroid) or a pirate frigate to complete the mission.

Of the two trumbles which escaped today from Lave station, only 473 have been located....

Odd, which version of Oolite are you running? 1.69 or 1.73.4? Or is it trunk?
Normally for me, the galactic navy OXP shows mission complete as soon as you arrive in the target system and form up with the fleet.

What version of GalNavy have you got? Latest is v5.2.2 I believe.

And have you installed ADCK's Behemoths as well? I'm thinking that might be conflicting with something, especially as the GalNavy compatible release hasn't occurred yet.

It's possible that you are not getting all the ships. On occasion this has happened to me too. What I have done is just forget about the mission. Fly away and do other things, and after a while the mission gets cancelled.

Puzzling this as it seems to work fine for me.

There are two main messages you need to look out for, however.
The first is, after destroying two or more enemy ships you should receive a message saying, "Your participation in this engagement has been noted", or similar. This, I think, ought to be enough to gain you credit back at base for taking part.

The second one to watch out for should say, "The battle of *wherever* is over reserve pilots may leave the system." Again I may be paraphrasing somewhat here. There may still be a few ships left at this point but the vast majority will have been destroyed.

If might be worth trying it again and seeing if these messages appear.

I would advise reinstallation. The OXP does work, most of the time, and adds so much to the feel of the game. Fantastic getting jumped by pirates and then they getting jumped by a behemoth and watching them panic!

Secom sector bases are great too. Seeing those ships parked around the Secom globe style station and the excellent repair facilities are good too.
