is it a driver problem?? :? :?

Yes it's a driver problem (most likely - 95% of time). Update the driver of your video card. Also, you may want to read this thread: https://bb.oolite.space/viewtopic.php?t=7444

I suspect that Gunsmif isn't using a laptop, in another thread he stated he had an average windows PC running XP, in which case the link to the driver modding thread won't help.

Gunsmif, you need to update your graphics drivers to the latest version.

For ATI drivers, you will find them at http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx

For NVIDIA drivers, go to http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index5.aspx?lang=en-us

For Intel drivers (shudder) go to http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Default.aspx

If you're not sure about finding out what kind of graphics chip your PC uses, just Click on Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Information. When the System Information window appears, it will take 30-60 seconds to load the info. Once it's ready, click on the + sign next to 'Components', then click on the word 'Display'.

You should see something like this. I've highlighted the area on the right in red where your graphics adapter make/model will be shown.

UPDATED DRIVERS AND ALL RUNNING BEAUTIFULLY NOW!!

I am totally amazed with the amount of help i have received from all on this forum!! :D :D :o 8)

thank you all for taking your valuable time to help a lowly noob such as myself, at this moment in time my only reward available to you will be that ill REALLY ENJOY Oolite and hold this site in high regards and recomend it to my friends and shipmates on http://www.spacesimcentral.com/portal.php

Well, we're not known as "The friendliest board this side of Riedquat™ for nothing! :D
