Hint. You can't destroy those things. I've tried.

By "Those things", what do you mean? Hardhead missiles? Pods? They're both easily dealt with...Dragonfire wrote:Hint. You can't destroy those things. I've tried.

Pods. Though I'd be interested to learning how you deal with both...except via Q-Mine or Energy Bomb...

Re: Tales from the spacelanes...
Two hits with a mil laser will fry pods easily. With a sniper cam you can hit 'em at long range. Good if you want no survivors.
For the Hardheads, I either inject away, activate my cloaking device for a bit, or try to hit it with the lasers.

I need a cloak. Where do I find those? (Apologies if this is turning into a two-way conversation, all. I'm open to anyone's response.)

the cloaking device is one of the core quests. I think it has to do with a certain galaxy and shooting, but yeah, good luck.

Re: Tales from the spacelanes...
I can't recall (& am too lazy to search) but one of the myriad of OXPs I have installed has something called a barakas barrier missile which will wait patiently while you're cloaked and go after you again when you reappear. Maybe it's the other one, the manchi missile. Anyway, those things suck: you shift-t(T) while it's following you, and then you cloak and carefully sneak up on it and shoot it. Way more effort than a silly missile is worth, but they blast off your turrets every single stinking time they hit. stupid missiles.RyanHoots wrote:For the Hardheads, I either inject away, activate my cloaking device for a bit, or try to hit it with the lasers.

A few details: It's in Galaxy five, no OXPs required. Just hand out in G5 for a bit and you'll get it, Dragonfire.fronclynne wrote:the cloaking device is one of the core quests. I think it has to do with a certain galaxy and shooting, but yeah, good luck.

I will do that very soon. I might just make the jump soon. I'm in G2, and I only have about 20 K.

I was flying into a wormhole with a boa and five asps. i came out and got ambushed by two kraits the asps blew up the krait. in turn i protected them from the second krait. once it was gone, we flew merrily to xeesle. the asps all the sudden started blasting me and my fifteen trumbles. soon i read the message we've all read...press space commander
Re: Tales from the spacelanes...
Earlier today I was playing to relax after a long trip. Took off on a merchant run and neglected to pay close attention to my Witchspace count-down. Came out in the middle of no-where surrounded by Thargoids. Still hadn't really figured out how to fight at that point, so I fled. Escaped with very little left of my ship, and all thoughts of relaxing had been utterly destroyed.
Thankfully, I had done a quick-save prior to leaving the station so I admitted defeat and just closed the game whilst floating in no-wheres-ville. Came back in and headed in the opposite direction. The second try resulted in a very nice profit and a very relaxing afternoon.

I'd hardly call it a spam match, EV. We were holding a legitimate discussion, and no one else was responding at the time. I'm not to be rude and ignore him. I was being sensitive to everyone else by expressing being open to other input in that statement.

Let's just all take a step back here for a second. Looks like things just got a bit out of hand.
El_Viejo, in this particular case I don't think that there is spamming involved. You have been a bit harsh with Dragonfire.
Dragonfire, a lot of your posts seem to be involving direct dialogue with RyanHoots. This seems to have gotten a bit better recently (at the beginning it was just silly-much), however do note that it tends to throw threads off topic. Now, we've all been guilty of thread derailing here at one time or another, but when it continuously turns into a direct discussion between the same two persons, it may mean that PMs may be more in order. Up to you, you don't violate any rules (except on threads like Count to 1000) but you do make the discussions tiresome to read. Sometimes, it may be a better idea starting a new thread altogether.
I have to say, moderating this forum used to be much much easier. I hate locking discussions, so please do your best to help me not to do it in the future.
