Winterfest approaches! A whole page of new 'inactives' slaughtered!
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

Yes, it's that magical time of the year … Spamta Claus's little elves do seem to be gearing up.

Sheesh … I'm surprised the forum didn't go down, with that many hits!

It's a bit weird: the Sunday morning cleanup wasn't even that busy - maybe five? And none of them even getting as far as attempting to lay their eggs on the board.

Has some sort of "Automatic Ovipositor Removal System" been added to the forum recently? As painful as that may be for the Ovipositor's Owner it would be more desirable then something bursting through the forum's chest and turning into who knows what.

Big D means none of them had actually registered (and attempted to post), they were only 'guests' (possibly testing our shields).
Normally, only a few hundred guests might be present at the very most - 3583 guests is extraordinary!

They are all desperate to hear the words of wisdom from the lips of the Dubbed Prophet of the Witchspace Lobster, obviously...

Not necessary. Every member's first post has to be manually approved - so even when a bot does get through the registration process, their package of spam never makes it to public view.

It occurs to me that maybe most of those 3583 guests were actually legitimate … if someone linked to a post on this BB on another, more crowded forum, we might get a sudden surge.

Possible, yes. Wish I'd noticed it at the time, I would've had a trawl through them.
That "The Knowledge AI" I mentioned currently has five of its tentacles present.

Have these hits been on the forum or the wiki?

If there are numerous read attempts on the wiki there is a chance I am running the OXP scan process that checks which of the OXPs/equipment/ships (about 10k items) actually has a wiki page present. To limit the time these 10k pages are checked I am running the check in parallel on 100 threads from my side...
