The screenshot page on Berlios was recently updated with some 1.71 goodiness:
http://developer.berlios.de/screenshots/?group_id=3577
The four top pics are 1.71 stuff, featuring Griff's amazing Trade Outpost and CaptKev's equally amazing System Redux.

I would like to add some impressive shots to show what Oolite is capable of. And this is where you guys come in.

Post ingame screenshots here, show us what Oolite can do. I was thinking of uploading the best ones at Berlios, like a mini-competition thing. Use any OXP you like, just give us something that looks gorgeous. But only pics from the Oolite universe will end up at the Berlios screens page.

Oh, and remember that if the HUD gets in your way, it is now possible to switch it off for screenshot purposes: Pause, press "O". To bring it back, pause and press "N".

Wow! I love the new screens! I had no idea that 1-71 would bring the textured planets back... (I've been a lazy reader, I know)

Textured planets were never gone. It was automatic texture generation that was disabled, and still is.

The reason for that was a bug that should occur equally with OXP-specified textures, though…

I will get back to the procuedural texture code sometime - I promise!

That would be very nice! :D Because, as beautiful as System Redux is; I don't like everything it does. E.g. I don't want extra planets and/or moons added to each and every system. And I don't like the sun to be so far away and mostly behind the planet. It makes everything so dark, and it makes you approach the planets mostly from their nightly, dark side. Which is a pity, because much of the eye-candy is lost this way.

Anyway, I found a system where it's not too bad, so here is my entry for the gallery: Salvagers taking apart a Cobra III.

System Redux doesn't effect the sun, but this is all you have to do to remove the moons & planets:

Code: Select all

this.max_moons = 0;
this.max_planets = 0;

Oh, you're right. It's not System Redux, it's 1.71! Has something changed in the code? I'll post some screenshots.

Sun troubles

I don`t know if that`s related, but my game is rather dark with full shaders on, not only savegame/shipyard menus, also "out there".

Perhaps it`s not the sun farther away, but the light sources playing out differently (and perhaps too dark)?

It is a known light source issue. Please refer to this topic.

Soon to be released as the 'Beyonder Mothership' in conjunction with Lestradae.

@FSOneblin, I did a quick search for the outpost OXP but couldn't find it. Does anybody else know where it's located?
