Braben has developed a tiny USB stick PC that has a HDMI port in one end and a USB port on the other. You plug it into a HDMI socket and then connect a keyboard via the USB port giving you a fully functioning machine running a version of Linux.
Yes. It’s definitely a sinister plot to exploit Oolite’s antiquated graphics code to keep us off the system, and has nothing whatsoever to do with the fact that OpenGL|ES is the only sane graphics target for a device of this nature.
You know the oolite community was surely his inspiration and he most certainly has a working version of "oolite" for it. What better way to teach programming than having kids do what we do all the time. After 5 or 10 years the kids will have come up with so many things that a release of a new commercial elite will happen with millions of players ready to sign up-nice tie in ehh! We helped bring this about so we must be on the right track.
Man I love that guy! He's the last of my childhood heroes and he really knows how to think "OUTSIDE THE BOX"
Take an idea from one person and twist or modify it in a different way as a return suggestion so another person can see a part of it that can apply to the oxp they are working on.

Only problem with that: among the things the kids will have come up with after 10 years will be Elite V, VI and VII. So at that time everybody will be excited about Elite VIII; therefore Elite IV—when finally released—will be watched as an odd step back and something of a slight disappointment.

Oolite.org traffic doubled yesterday, with multiple new sources and increased traffic from Wikipedia (German, English and Russian). I assume we have David to blame for that. :-)

Same on my site too. Mostly coming from Oolite.org and alioth.net.
Maybe Ian Bell and David Braben should get together every so often and put their differeneces asside like Paul Simon and Art garfunkel, and make some more Magic for the game Playing Public..... I'm not gonna hold my breath though.
