Commander Ironfist - RIP
I am sad to have to report that Ironfist (real name John Tugwell) has passed away.
I received an email today from a friend of his brother who is helping to tie up his affairs and is getting in touch with contacts he had - we had often swapped emails during OXP testing.
He was always helpful and cheerful, and will be much missed.
His funeral is to be held on Monday 22nd April in London. I have details and if any of you would like these, please PM me.

Very sad news indeed... thanks, Smivs.
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills

Very sad indeed - we forget that RL(tm) is still there in the background.

Re: Commander Ironfist - RIP
Sorry to hear that.
Is Ironfist the first Ooliteer to pass away?
Should a memorial be added to the TOGY?
It's nice that someone in his circle of family and friends thought to tell you, Smivs. I take it you will pass on our wishes to his family?
If there will be a collection at the service for a charity or organisation then it might be nice if we could collectively send something.

Re: Commander Ironfist - RIP
I'm not sure if he is the first of us to 'Press Space'. There may have been others that we never heard about. It had crossed my mind that a TOGY memorial might be a nice touch.
I got the impression that the funeral will be a small affair. He only has a brother, no other family, but I have sent condolences on behalf of the community. As far as I know there is no collection planned.

This is awful news - he was too young to be joining the great gig in the sky .
I like the idea of making a TOGY memorial though - seems highly fitting - but I think the penalties for blowing things up there should increase tenfold .

I notice that one of the Admin team has updated Ironfist's profile, giving him the rank of 'Commander'. A nice touch - thank you.

Very sad news.. a TOGY memorial seems fitting..
Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied
