Where in the world

Post by Shipbuilder »

I was curios how widespread the Oolite community is.

From the top of my head I believe I have seen people on the forum from the following countries: -

England
Scotland
Wales
USA
Australia
New Zealand
Canada
Germany
Finland
Austria
France
Russia
Spain
Sweden
Brazil
Belgium
Switzerland
Slovenia
Norway

Do we have representatives from any others ?

The map on the trunk nightly download page will add a few more, I think - including one from the Atlantic ocean off Africa.
Hover over the red dots and it'll tell you where each visit is based - of course, they may not be forum members.
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

Another_Commander is living in Italy (originally from Greece), we have members from Denmark too.

Truly international (but mostly Western Europe I think)

I bet there's a really interesting story behind that one.

Sadly it's probably 0° N and 0°W ... it just signals an IP address with an indeterminate geographical location, not actually someone bobbing about where the equator meets the Greenwich meridian.

I suppose it could be Cmdr. Maegil, but I'm not sure he has the intertubes on his boat.

I'm pretty sure he has not, or else he wouldn't only visit the boards when anchored in some harbour.

Shipbuilder: Why not make a poll on this thread and see how the numbers break down :?: . It would be neat to see the numbers

Further to CommRLock78's suggestion I have added a poll to this thread.

Apologies for those whose country is not listed however the poll is limited to 10 options.

Tasmania is actually considered part of Australia..
Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied

Cheers Shipbuilder :D . Good idea with the regional grouping, since as you said, there are only ten options ;)
