Feature freeze

Oolite is currently a beta testing stage in preparation for the next stable release.

The word beta means widely varying things to different people. In this case, it means: there will be no new features before the next “stable” release, only bug fixes. (The difference can be subtle, and some bug fixes can have features as side effects, but if you start off by thinking “wouldn’t it be nice if…”, your idea is probably not a bug fix.) The feature freeze is officially in effect as of February 12.

This means that the Suggestion Box forum, which you’ll note is subtitled “An area for discussing new ideas and additions to Oolite”, is largely pointless for the time being. If you have a feature suggestion that you think should be considered after the next stable release, please put it on the feature tracker. You can of course discuss it here first, but if it isn’t on the feature tracker it’s likely to be forgotten.
