Useful MFDs [mini-OXP]

Post by Zireael »

Basically, I took another_commander's code from an old thread and adjusted it so that instead of a comms message, it shows the time in an MFD (the fancy green infobox from 1.79).

***
Now merged with some other useful MFD code, so that you can see your kills and credits immediately without switching to F5. Also has an added functionality of displaying your kills per day.

Grab it from here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/0slf6bv8nznd8 ... Ds_0.2.zip

Note: The default start date is 21st March 3142 with the year being taken from Selezen's timeline, but you can adjust it as you see fit.

More functionality planned in future.

Ha, I must admit when I first saw this title (Real Life Dates) I imagined an OXP that would force us all out of Mom's basement so we could actually meet real girls!

You had a basement? Luxury! When I were a lad...
I would advise stilts for the quagmires, and camels for the snowy hills
And any survivors, their debts I will certainly pay. There's always a way!

 Yeah, I half expected something like that.

I'll be giving this a try (er, the oxp that is).
Thanks Zireael :)

Hi Zireael, the link isn't working for me :(
Try this one: https://www.dropbox.com/s/nduw1a9osl15d ... %200.1.zip (first post updated)

The Dropbox didn't inform me the links would be broken once I moved the OXPs into a folder :/

That's one of the reasons why I like box.com.. the links don't change when you move things around.. :D
Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied

The real life time functionality is now included in the Useful MFDs OXP.

And now the game suddenly complains about a malformed UTF-8 character at offset 9 and I've no idea how to fix it.

EDIT:
*smacks head*

It was an issue with Date.toLocaleString() not accepting Polish diacritics. Fixed it in a hackish way forcing the display to be English, since I've no idea how that beast works.

I like what this does, but I don't like that I can't turn it off when I don't want it on-screen. The various other MFDs can be toggled off, but when I toggle this one off, it comes back on again by itself a moment later. If you could fix this, it would be very handy.

(I look forward to the 'damaged equipment' function, if you can get it working.. that would really be helpful.)

Diz, I only have Spara's navigation MFD, which I find useful and interesting. What do you have and where can I find them?

Ta in advance.

Do you have the Ship's Library installed, Solo? Available from the in-game OXZ manager in 1.79 (and you'd need to buy the Ship's Library Flight Interface thingy). You could read the Extracts from the Tre Clan Addresses on Interplanetary Life (also in the OXZ manager, I think) whilst cruising the 'lanes - very entertaining.
