Think its is only Y.A.H. that tends to use them, and I quite like it as it gives the OXP a theam. The other OXPs (mine included), tend to use references to Fan Fiction or other Sci-Fi (or in Black Monks Blackadder and the Bible), which is also fun spotting, as long it is kept subtle.
OXPS : The Assassins Guild, Asteroid Storm, The Bank of the Black Monks, Random Hits, The Galactic Almanac, Renegade Pirates can be downloaded from the Elite Wiki here.

There might be as little as 3 released OXPs with Oo's in them:

Your Ad Here, Oo-Haul and HOopy Casino.

Since I'm somewhat responsible for the release of two thirds of the offending expansions, I guess I must say something on this subject ;)

1/5 or 20 of the ads use Oo for intentional misspelling. Everybody is welcome to supply ads with or without the Oo to try to push the balance in the direction they want it to go. An ad for Taranis Corp is still missing :)

Besides that I've made one OXP based on one of those ads - Oo-Haul and I know that DaddyHoggy has some in the drawer (eg. Snoopes and Tescoo) but those are still unreleased. The names Oo-Haul and Tescoo are DaddyHoggys inventions, but I think they were good. Oo-Haul because when playing with a torus I ended up with something that looked like a crate hauler that made me think of that ad. Tescoo stations because DH did the texture and so many of the people playing the game seem to be British and would more easily recognize those than my own 7-11 inspired texture for convenience stations.

The Oo's might have taken a little overhand lately, but I'm really not too bothered many of the puns have been quite funny (like a parcel delivery service named Oops). I think that people should choose for themselves, but yesterday I actually did take a look at wikipedia's lists of fictional brands and companies for some inspiration for some ads from fiction to balance out the recent surge of Ooified Earth corporations.

I thought this might happen...

I'm responsible for most of the "Oo's" I think (in the YOUR AD HERE oxp at least) - other's obviously thought it was a good idea though as it caught on near the end.

As Doc points out only 1/5th are Oo related from the 100 and since you have access to all the textures in the oxp you can chop out and/or swap the ones you don't like.

Oo-Hauler is small but fun and its a good looking ship depsite Doc's claims not to be a good modeller but like all oxps doesn't need to be installed.

I do have plans for the Tescoo Oxpresses but now they're in Doc's oxp I may not do anything with them other than get the cargo spawning of the Tescoo Bulk Carrier sorted and release that.

I did a back story (plausible I feel) for theOO (Oolite Ordnance) and will finsih retexturing my asps as per the back story and I think if I can sort some good AI out (no doubt with LBs help) they'll make a welcome addition to Oolite (IMHO).

I really enjoyed making up believable tag lines for my Oolite-inspired-based-on-real-companies. Oops (based on ups) "Perfect Deliveries. No Mistake" being a particular favourite.

As a real-life Research Scientist of the UK MOD but a frustrated (not enough time) writer the chance to contribute to YAW in what I think became my own unique (but inspiring to others) style really helped my own sanity.

I know you're not picking and no doubt genuinely curious as to what people think but I like it - its like an Oolite in-joke that we can all smile at ruefully (sometimes) as we fly around this fantastic, rich, lively, every developing Ooniverse.

The installation of any oxp is a choice - if anybody thinks they're too "OO" then they either wont bother or will alter them locally. (I've already replaced the Oolite BB Ad with my own just-missed-the-ship voodoofoone ad)

Good on you for raising the issue but you fail to say where you personnally sit in the debate - I'm guessing you think OK now(ish) but you're worried it may get out of hand.

I am currently working on an OXP with a set of missions in Galaxy 3. For news broadcasts I thought about "AlJazOora", or perhaps more conservative "ROoters". (I guess "BlOomberg" wouldn't really be a pun.)

What do you think of it?

Sounds fine to me - looks like you'll get yours out before I get Snoopes out!

Ho Hum :(

@ C.H. and Dr. Nil: no idea whay you were thinking of, perhaps I am too harmless  and BTW no native English speaker and living far away from the anglo-american culture, so certainly I'm going to miss something in the subtext of a word every now and then. I was just thinking of "Reuter's", which in news is as "conservative"--by meaning of "established"--as you can get. And certainly no-one is going to be offended by it, something I'm just not that sure about when it comes to "Al Jazeera", although personally I like AlJazOora much more.

Yeah. I only really like it when it's punny, like Oops and BOoger King etc... That makes me chuckle, the other ones I feel rather neutral about.

@Commander McLane: I was trying to make a pun on what the Capt'n said. With British Conservatives (or politicians generally?) being renowned for their many sex-scandals. Probably didn't really work well (I'm no native English speaker either).
