Docking longshot

Post by Babbadobba »

Hi all,

Just a quick question

I haven't had to dock manually since I got the longshot as it came with a computer, however I tried docking with a rock hermit and had to do it very slowly as my shield kept getting wasted (but replenished v.v. quickly?), then on my way back to the space station my docking computer got fried, still docking manually is no major problem..... ooops today it is tho.!! Can anyone confirm if the longshot is a bit more tricky than the standard ships to dock? or have I just confessed to being a totally poor pilot :?

Probably its protruding part that causes problems...

Don't know the dimensions, but I do scrape the hull of my Supercobra sometimes on a rock hermit both on manual if lazy on lining up and also with the autodocking to it as a target with Ctrl-C, never have any problems manual docking at a Coriolis, in fact if you line up from the navigation buoy you can fly in at full speed or on injectors if you are nimble fingered.

Launching longshot

Post by SandJ »

Having installed the Longshot OXP, I am getting this in my Latest.log:

23:07:02.635 [station.launchShip.failed]: Cancelled launch for a Longshot with role escort, as it is too large for the docking port of the Coriolis Station.

Should I care?

The question is: could you?

If the ship is too big for standard docking bays, then it's too big for standard docking bays. All you can do about that is tweak the model itself, which you can always do on your own hard disk. The question is whether the OXP's license permits you to release your tweaked model for other players.

EDIT: And congratulations! I think we have a new candidate for the oldest resurrected thread!

If you can't dock the Long Shot, you could always see if you can find a nearby Ringworld and land on the rim, but look out for that tricky Meteor Defence...

At 152m wide and 90m high, no wonder Oolite does not like it.

so, move the wiki list entry to OXPs with problems ?
