Hello fellow commanders
Hi
Thought I'd come on and say hello as you seem a freindly bunch here.
I've just discovered Oolite, can't believe I haven't before! I used to play the original Elite for hours on the BBC B when I was alot younger I've also had a play around with the Amiga versions, when I had an Amiga, and more recently using an emulator.
The recent kickstarter campaing for Elite: Dangerous has rekindled my interest in the game, and since stumbling across Oolite, and this forum, every spare minute of my life has become centred around it! I've done my milk runs, and have a fairly well equipped cobby now. I've had a play around with some OXPs (Ambient only for now - loving the BGS, Griffs Ships and randomshipnames!) Thanks to you guys it was pretty easy to choose them and install them.
when not playing, I've been reading all sorts of interesting stuff on the forum and its great to see so much passion and commitment to a game, for nowt but the love of it. I was surprised to learn other people are still playing Elite, but amazed that there is a version that you can modify, tweak and change to fulfil those dreams of years ago!
I was even reading Status Quo on the train to work! thanks guys for ruining my life
Thanks for all the advice and pointers that have got me hooked on this game!

Most of of us have been through that process. If you are married the process takes a little longer.
Welcome

Another satisfied victim..
Welcome aboard, StarTrader!
Welcome aboard, StarTrader!
Most games have some sort of paddling-pool-and-water-wings beginning to ease you in: Oolite takes the rather more Darwinian approach of heaving you straight into the ocean, often with a brick or two in your pockets for luck. ~ Disembodied

Indeed! We rarely seem to get snow in the south of England (especially where I live in south oxfordshire!), and yet it was most welcome yesterday when they sent me home early from work!StarTrader wrote:Thanks for the welcome guys!

Welcome to the boards, btw!

Welcome
I thought the game is ruining my life, too, but thanks to you it's now clear to me where my error was!
Welcome StarTrader! Good to see I'm not the only victim!
忍 knowing that enough is enough, you'll always have enough.

Pleb - I'm not married (yet) do you think she will wait until I get Elite?

Re: Hello fellow commanders
I had a lovely BBQ last night thanks onno. Mmm tasty!
I miss my trumbles now, particularly the one with the stripe in his hair that looked like a punk!
