I love Anacondas. I'd love to fly one of those big girls. Make my living moving hundreds of tons of cargo through the galaxy.
The problem is that, when pirates see her, they think my Anaconda is some kind of space pinata and they ripe it apart. I just can't keep one of these things flying. It saddens me.
Are there any Anaconda pilots here? Can you give me some tips? Thank you!
Go where there are fewer pirates: stick to safe systems.
Keep away from what pirates there are: avoid the space lanes.
Share the risk: fly in convoy with other ships.
Get some wingmen: use Hired Guns.OXP.
Shorten the trip from WP to station: use Gates.OXP.
Edit: you'll have trouble satisfying the appetite of that big girl Anna Conda anyway, so why not make do with a Kirin?
Flying a Cobra Mk I Cobbie 3 with nothing but Explorers Club.OXP and a beam laser 4 proper lasers for company Dropbox referral link 2GB of free space online + 500 Mb for the referral: good for securing work-in-progress.
The Kirins are a thing of beauty, but the OXP doesn't seem to work on my computer.
That problem warrants investigation.

In that case, I think I see what your problem is with pirates: more practice dogfighting is needed.

Finally the Kirin appeared, but it was of a shiny white colour. It wasn't very pretty. I tried a Josher (not bad, once you get used to the odd appeareance) and right now I'm flying a Naga. The problem is that I had some contracts with the Kirin and I won't be able to fulfill them with the Naga. I wonder what will happen.

Indeed. I have another save with an Asp Explorer and that one does better with pirates. I'll get a joystick some day and then those pesky pirates will bite the dust.
Well, it seems that I'm going nowhere, but I'm trying to find my dream ship.
Snapper.... 760 tons fair speed, fair maneuverability, moderate price. disadvantage: no scoop
purchase long range scanner and trip planner and the risk of interceptions are reduced and the benefit of profits is greatly enhanced.
I don't think all the practice in the World will help when you fly an Anaconda. A dogfighter it is not!
You know what I mean: how to spot them, to evade them, to take them out with side & rear lasers, to deal with missiles, etc. That all applies regardless of what you are flying.

Keep looking. Meanwhile, welcome to the Friendliest Board this Side of Riedquat™.

Speaking of which, I am so far pretty terrible with the rear laser. I don't have a joystick or particularly want to buy one... am I doomed as a keyboard monkey?
What were the skies like when you were young?
Currently: piloting the Boa Clipper Photic Sneeze II around Galaxy 2, bearing gifts of dubious legality but high entertainment value.
