What? Ship

Post by Staer9 »

Well, I was looking at all the amazing new ships being made and it got me wondering...

what would happen if every month people got together, tested ships, wrote reveiws, took screenshots and all that. Then put it all together into some "e-magazine" that people could read either for amuzement purposes or as a decent judge of how good a ship is.

Obviously good pilots will be neccessary as well as a decent editor (certainly not me) and a steady supply of new OXP ships.

Who thinks this is a good idea, and who would be willing to test ships and write reveiws/ edit reviews?

Yes, but the e-magazine in question would be updating the Wiki.
You know those who, having been mugged and stabbed, fired, dog run over, house burned down, wife eloped with best friend, daughters becoming prostitutes and their countries invaded - still say that "all is well"?
I'm obviously not one of them.

kind of, but instead of writing back-stories it would be writing critical reveiws.

of course the "What? Ship" e-magazine overall rating could be published on the ships wiki pages

...and why not do it in character? Besides, RL mags often also include some background in their reviews.

true... but then again, there are many ships on the wiki that have little or no background info, I guess it could get quite interesting reveiwing those :D

nice!

When there are no new ship oxps, some old(er) ships could be reviewed. You know, "What Ship ? - classic ships special edition.

Whe you upgrade your ship, do you lose all your equipment? As you don't get to sell the equipment back for much you surely have to save a heck of a lot with the cobra to make it worth upgrading?!

When you sell your ship you sell it "as is" - the ship you buy will have extra equipment (or not) - your ship will be worth more than the base price because of the extra equipment - and some equipment (such as the Naval Energy Unit) you earn the right to buy if you were awarded it in a previous mission - I don't think this is true of the cloaking device though...

The cloaking device goes with you to your next ship automatically. You don't have to buy it.

The cloak is the only piece of kit that is transfered to a new ship when you buy one.

Edit:- Aaaargh, Leafy-Ninja'd (again). :P

Well it is the only core piece of kit that gets transferred as some OXP's add kit that also gets transferred.

Yes, sorry - what I meant is - I don't remember having to buy the cloaking device again - thus I'd presumed (but couldn't remember) it transferred and I didn't need to seek out a suitable Tech Lev System to buy it again.

But that also wouldn't work as the Tech level for the cloaking device is set at 99 you would be hard pressed to find one. :P

Next
